Details are as follows;

• All registered forum members except for judges will qualify to enter this contest.
• Visitors of exhibition are also welcome to participate in this contest, simply by registering as a new members of our forum.
• Judging criteria will be base upon ;- Most number of visitors to the new thread started, appropriate content to this event, interact of the thread, interesting shot or video which have the ability to capture the spirit of the event .
• User who uses double nick to post will be removed and disqualify automatically for this contest.
• Members will have to start their individual thread to cover the event in order to be qualify for the contest.
• All thread have to be started at this Marine Exhibition Sub-forum here
• All threads will be closed on 12.09.2010 Sunday 12 pm.
• All thread will be judged upon and deliberated by Admin & Mod of SRC and winner will be announce in our forum and prizes collection on Sunday 5pm onward at the exhibition.

It's time to bring out your camera to capture and "show off" the beauty of nature in your aquarium. We are pleased to organize our first ever photo contest during our exhibition in IMM, and we would like to invite all reefer to showcase your " Best Shot " on your corals, fish , inverts or even your tank shot.

1)      Information

 

Event organizer : Singapore reef Club

Co-Organizer : Marine Aquarium Singapore Society

 

Theme : Photos taken ONLY from captive aquarium which includes, corals, Marine fishes, Invert, and Tank photos.

 

Caption: Is not required but maybe an additional point to have to capture attention of the judges.

 

Contest Fees : $ 10.00 / participant to be make payable to the club admin prior to entry.

 

2)      Eligibility

 

Open to all SRC registered members up to and including appointed Moderators not taking part in the judging of the event.

 

Employees of the sponsored products, SRC Administrators and Moderators including MASS members who are selected as Judges for the competition are not eligible.

Images entered into the competition must have been original content taken by the participant and possess all the necessary rights belonging to the entrant.

 

Images that have won prizes in other competitions, or have been used for other commercial purposes and/or been published before will not be eligible for entry.

 

3) Submitting Entries

·         A Entry Submission thread under the Gallery Section will be published inside the forums found here.

·         Each photographer is only allow to submit up to THREE (3) photos.

·          Submission and uploading of image(s) to the Competition Gallery indicates that the photographer has agreed to take part in the competition and abid to the terms and conditions of the competition.

·         Identifying marks, Watermarks, Signature of SRC nickname – Watermarks, identifying marks or SRC signature will be allowed for images entered into the Competition.

4) File Format and Required Digital Information

For submission of photos into our SRC Gallery section, the Maximum size per JPEG image accepted is 1 MB. For submission of file size greater than the above, please submit your photos here .

 

 All images submitted must have the following information listed in the showing the following information :-
* SRC Nick name
* Real Name
* Contact no:
* Date

* Email address

Film Users - scanned entries for film user at the appropriate size can be uploaded to the Competition Gallery.

 

5) Image Editing and Enhancement

Imagine enhancements may be applied to optimize an entry for the Competition.

 

There must not be any significant removal or addition of elements in the image. Which also mean:-

* Adjustments of color, saturation, contrast, brightness and sharpening of the photos are allowed.
* Cropping of images is allowed.
* Cloning must be limited to general cleaning work - significant addition or removal of elements in the composition is prohibited.
* Dodging and burning is permitted.
* Perspective adjustments for correction of lens distortion is permitted.

6) Judging

A Panel of Judges comprised of both SRC Administrators/ members, MASS members, professional photographer an independent distinguished photographer invited by SRC will sit on the judging. The decision of the Panel of Judges is final.

 

A)    Dr Hsu ( Being a vet himself, club president of Betta Club Singapore and photographer, Dr Hsu has been invited as a judge for many local aquarium contest )

 

     Joseph Tan ( Chairman of Marine Aquarium Society Singapore )

 

C)     Weiloong ( A professional photographer and once an active reefer here in SRC since 2003, senior reefer will be able to recall the photography skill he has with his camera under his previous thread .)

 

D)    Larry Ng ( Club Admin of SRC )

 

 

7) Copyright

  

Participant

 

·         The participant of the competition must be the sole author and owner of copyright, intellectual property and all other proprietary rights for the image(s) entered into the Competition.

·         Photographers will retain full copyright of all images entered into the Competition.

·         It is the legal responsibility of the Entrant, and not the organizers or sponsor, to ensure compliance with all ownership and copyright requirements, and own the rights to reproduce the image(s).

·         Entries which do not fulfill all the above criteria will be deemed ineligible and will be disqualified.


Organizer

·         The Organizer (SRC-Singapore Reef Club) reserve the non-exclusive right, for a limited period ending 31nd Dec 2010, to publish, reproduce, display, distribute and show on screen, any winning image on associated websites, photo exhibitions, tradeshows, prints or any other media which is under the management of the sponsor and organizer. In all cases where such images are used, the sponsor and organizer reserve the right to do so without obtaining the further prior permission of the winner, and without offering any further compensation of any form. However, where any image is reproduced in print, the photographer will be credited.

 

8) Prizes

 

The organizers and sponsor reserve the right to change or add to the prizes and substitute with a comparable alternative. Any changes will be posted on this thread. All Prizes are non-transferable and no cash equivalent will be offered. If the quality of entries falls below the required standard, the organizers and sponsor reserve the right not to award a prize.

9) Liability

 

All Images uploaded to the gallery are at the photographer's own risk and the organizers and it's judges shall not be held responsible or liable for any unauthorized duplication or use of images submitted to the Competition Gallery.

10) Agreement to Abide By Competitions Rules, Terms & Conditions

 

Submission and Uploading of an image to the specified Competition Gallery indicates to the Organizer and Sponsor that the participant has read and agreed with the Terms & Conditions set for this Photography Competition.

The organizer and sponsor reserves the right to amend or modify the above terms and conditions of the Competition as required, wherein adequate notification and announcement on the changes will be made known to the Entrants and members in a reasonable manner.

Submission of photos & payment of contest fees For submission of photos into our SRC Gallery section, the Minmium size per JPEG image accepted is 1 MB. For submission of file size greater than the above (up to 10MB /email), please submit your photos via email to me to clubadmin@sgreefclub.com , or you can host your large file via any online hosting site. Photo will be developed by us in SIZE : 8R for display on that day using the same vendor / paper quality to ensure print consistancy . If you prefer to print your own , you may inform us and bring down your 8R size print on the first day of the contest by 09.09.10. You can either submit your photos by uploading it in our photo contest Gallery by creating a new album found in our gallery section here or email the photos directly to clubadmin@sgreefclub.com . i will acknowledge the photos recevied. For payment of the contest fees, you may do a bank transfer to me via another of the following bank with your name, SRC nick . You can either send me a email , sms or PM after payment. About the event :

The event aim to educate and improve on the awareness among responsible reef keeping, and promoting the beauty of marine aquarium keeping in Singapore among the public.

Through this event, we hope to be able to educate and convey the message to the public that indeed with proper knowledge, setting up a successful marine tank can be easy and fun but not very hard and expensive.
