  1. My aquarium chiller, Resun CL650 literally blew up in the middle of the night, spraying refrigerant all over the floor. Lost a lot of coral as my spare chiller was only 1/10hp. Bought the compressor and never looked back. Took approximate 23 minute to bring temperature down from 27 degree celsius to 26 degree celsius using Eheim 1260 as return pump. Compressor rest for 2hr 20 minute. If it rains, compressor will rest for 3hr or more.
  2. The number of reefer placing compressor beside their tank is slowly increasing. Mine is about 5 years if I'm not wrong.
  3. Tank masih running, nanti top up coral sikit.
  4. Sps dulu gua try menjadi ah.............putih melepak!!! Nasib baik frag aje.
  5. Looks like a big project. The Eheim Compact+ Marine is it a pump for skimmer?
  6. Get a proper chiller, 1 model upwards than what you required. A tem chiller is no good in our climate. Another chiller tip is to modify your chiller to use an external temperature probe. With this modification, your chiller is actually measuring your tank water temperature, not the temperature of the chiller water compartment. More efficient as you are not hampered by the return pump flowrate. Hope this helps!
  7. It depend on each own opinion. Live rock may be cheap but is it ecologically friendly? When I started my marine hobby, I purposely choose to buy 2nd hand live rock to lessen the impact of harvesting live rock from nature. After the hobby expanded and artificial rocks were created, gave away my live rock to my buddies and jump into the artificial rock scene. Now my tank is fully stocked with artificial rock, only live rock are those stuck with corals when I purchase them. The bacteria reside in medias that I placed in the sump. The stale water issue can be overcome by doing regular water change but it depend on how you placed the artificial rock. Currently, mine is placed vertically ie standing. Doing waterchange from 3/4 to 1/2 the height of the artificial rock would remove some of the stale water while replacing the void with new salt mixed water. I have cut holes for water circulation for my large artificial rock that permits fish to go in and out and to use it as a hiding place at night. User should take the time to prepare their artificial rock before placing them in their tank so as not to encounter terrible after effect. Another way is to fill the void in artificial rock with aquarium grade silicone instead of using sand. This should add weight but does not have similar effect like a dsb does or maybe have little effect. Hope this helps!
  8. yup, G2 gua led belum tukar. Busy keje.
  9. Your link provided very close up detail of the bike. Saw some unique component. Can share the bike cost?
  10. Not blaming you, never did I say that. All I'm saying is that since you want to expose us reefer to rare fish, don't segregate the ones you like and others that are not to your liking. That's how I thought and I felt it was a wrong thing seeing you want us to be aware of this portion of the hobby. Once you start segregrating some other might think something else and the wrong conclusion is reached. That's all.
  11. Wow, pent up frustration?!? This is just a hobby, just giving my views. That's what I feel.
  12. Any ordinary member reply might not be paid much attention at all but Lemonlemon is a fish guru leh. He wants to expose us to the rare fish in the market, I appplaude his effort but once his comment turns negative to certain fish species, all his effort comes to naught. Like I said before, 1 step forward, 2 step backward. This will also have an impact at the lfs later on. One fine day we will realise that only certain fish species appear at the lfs, like what is happening now. No need to be bias to the other fish species, the ones we do not like may grow fond on us later in life. Lemonlemon, there are friends and then there are friends. Those who let you do what you want aren't necessary friends. Seems that I ruffled some feather or should I say some scales.
  13. Not over reacted lah guys, chill. Check past post in this thread lah. Some members post they like certain fish, Lemon2 replied not his fav, happen a few times. Not a good way to respond when trying to promote some rare fish for the benefit of others I feel. It's like moving 1 step forward but 2 step backward. If it' not his fav or to his liking, just skip the response. I've learnt a lot in this thread but sometimes the replies might not be favourable to some when you're trying to promote this hobby. Try to accommodate other member interest even though it's might not be yours. Hope Lemon2 has the sense to recognise what he is doing.
  14. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. No need to put down others if you do not share the same interest.
  15. After reading the post, I do not think it is racist. Just an act of handling a fish with bare hand, just that Johan saw that this is done more by the said community. Of course, in reality, there are more of the said community in this hobby compared to the other community as a whole. Those that raise the complaint might have jump the gun prematurely.
  16. Better to have as close as possible the flow rate of the return pump and the skimmer pump. Reason being, a too high flow rate for return pump, the lower flow rate skimmer would result in lesser water being treated by the skimmer and the rest of the un-treated water that pass the skimmer ends up feeding the algae in the main tank.
  17. A heat sink can only do so much on it's own. You'll need additional cooling feature such as a fan to assist in dissipating additional heat. If you're worried about practicality of adding heat sink, I believe a multi rpm fan is a better choice. Heat sink might add additional weight to your lightset and also in time, it will be a dust collector and cleaning heat sink is not an easy job.
  18. Where to collect? Might be interested if it's at the east side.
  19. My god, I've just played the video and it seems you have a lionfish in there in the bottom tank. Good luck to the fishes in that tank, they are dinner for the lionfish. The top tank is a nightmare, tangs flaring at each other and no space for the weaker one to retreat to. No wonder no one reply in your thread. Guess I do the same too.
