  1. Never seen this type of coralline algae before. Thanks for the info! Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  2. Update... I tried to use the glue but it was super messy. I wanted to stick some torch corals onto rocks. End up I gave up and just propped them up into some holes on my LR... Turns out after 1 week, they stuck themselves onto the rock! Wasn't expecting that lol Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  3. Wow never heard of such a thing... And you said it's not scrubbing off? Then it can't be cyanobacteria... Alien black ooze? Lol Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  4. Nice. Didn't know there's such nice feather dusters our there. Do they get huge? Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  5. Usually if you can identify which rock is its home, can just remove the rock out of water. Crabs will usually crawl out when there's no water. Or you can spray the holes with fresh water to force it out Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  6. I saw at polyart, a bit more ex than the wooden one. Also very short, so I didn't buy. Got the overkill 2 feet pincer type one from c328... A bit regret lol, too cumbersome Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  7. Beautiful tang! Sorry to hear about your ich problem. Hope your tank bounces back soon! Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  8. I recommend a hermit crab! My hermit is damn hardworking, he cleaned up all the algae in my tank in less than 3 days. Too bad he's a bit slow when it comes to feeding, the shrimps all bully him and swatch all the food. Have to reserve some for him specially lol Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  9. Thanks for the info guys. Actually I'm just cheapo haha. Since I have superglue lying around, I thought I ahold use it instead of going to LFS to get coral glue. I read online that a lot of reefers use $1 superglue, but I also heard that the liquid one is hard to work with. Anyway I haven't glued it yet. I have 2 new torch corals inside already. Gonna let them stabilize first before I try anything funny. Currently I'm just propping them up by sticking them in some holes in my LR. But my cleaner shrimp damn irritating, knock them 45 degrees every now and then Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  10. Hi guys, read up that people use normal superglue to glue corals onto rocks and frag plugs. They say any cyanoacrylate-based glue is safe to use. However, I went to buy the "elephant" superglue from a bookstore but have no iden if it's cyanoacrylate based because it doesn't say on the package. Anyone has experience using elephant glue on corals? Will it mess up the tank? Thanks Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  11. Wah your corals are really beautiful. Hope I can reach that level some day! Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  12. Hi bro, haven't tried it out yet, will let you all set the results when I do! Am consolidating all the required equipment before I start filling this thing up as my rack is kind of near the wall and will be a pain to readjust later. Thanks all for the advice Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  13. omg really?! I did think they looked like zoas but i never imagined i would see them growing randomly on LR. I got this piece of LR from the sump of one of the bros here.
  14. Wah lucky you. I stay near Clementi, so there's no nearby fish farm selling NSW to my knowledge.
  15. Confirmed! The initial white thing I saw in,my first post is also a limpet, just diff color. Now a new thing growing on the LR. Looks almost like very skinny mushrooms Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  16. Very nice bro! Wish i had your aqua-scaping skills. Every time i add new coral in my tank, it just looks out of place or i end up anyhow stuffing it into one corner
  17. Thanks bro, I didn't even think of that. But if i put the skimmer in the middle, along with my macro algae and pods, will they get trapped by the skimmer?
  18. Hi guys, I just bought a new tank, a 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 with internal sump. Planning to upgrade my current 20G a little bit by adding more equipment. I had a few things in mind of what to do at the sump area. But first, here is a pic of it 1) i will be putting bio balls and other filter media 2) I also want to cultivate copepods and macro algae, if possible 3. I also have a skimmer (boyu mini, at the left section) The overflow section on the right actually strains through a very slim baffle first (there are bottom and top inlets) before it goes to the main section on the right. There is also a ledge in the middle. I'm going to assume that section is meant for placing the fibre wool in a box on top of the ledge, followed by a bag of bio balls / coral chips at the bottom half. For the middle section, there's where i plan to either put an algae scrubber or a bunch of macro algae to cultivate copepods and help with nitrates/phosphates. Finally, at the left side, the return pump and the skimmer will be placed. However, I don't know if this makes sense, since i usually see the skimmer at the first compartment as the first line of defense against organic waste. By the time it hits the return pump, shouldn't the water be damn clean already? I'm really not sure about this part. I googled around but can't find any concrete answers. Also, I will be placing my auto water top up system there as well Hoping for some advice on whether my plans make sense or are they really bad ideas. Thanks!
  19. Hmm, true that. Wouldn't it be hard to transport though? Where to buy NSW? or I just kapok from the sea myself? Lol Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  20. As a cheapskate, I would only get half and top up the other half with dechlorinated tap water Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  21. So far met a few fellow hobbyists, all younger than me /cry 32 here, I guess higher earning power is important since marine is a bit more costly. I'm still a cheapo, though Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  22. LOL congrats on the mantis capture bro
  23. Thanks for the info guys. Now I spotted a third surprise... I'm guessing it's some sort of limpet Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  24. I buy over the counter syringes from commercial pharmacies for less than a dollar each. I hook them up with airline tubing and stuff tubing for target feeding. Maybe you can just use the airline tubing to wriggle into the suspected holes for better targeting when you spray with the syringe Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
  25. I heard soda water will definitely kill some creatures and some of your beneficial life on the rock but shouldn't be too bad unless you soak for too long. 2 mins sounds about right. Alternatively if you know which rock is the one with the culprits, you could try taking that rock out and just spray inside the holes with a syringe with freshwater or soda water and they should run out. At least the rest of your rock will be unaffected. Let me know if you succeed, I'm keen to keep them lol Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk
