    Crab trap

yep, i tried it too. In the morning the food was gone, and no crab. I blocked it against the rock to make sure the shrimp would not go inside. The trap was fully submerged under the water, maybe that was the problem. Sigh....
  3. AND...having looked at your design, a suggestion; If you place the bottle at a higher level than the sump tank, you could create suction, (manually), (no rude comments please), then start the drip. It would mean you could have the connection at the top of the bottle, avoiding potential problems of sediment settling out at the bottom, and blocking your drip. I hope someone is following this. Tick Tock, roll on 6pm!!
  4. ok, very interesting. Now, here is a brain teaser; I just got a kalkwaser reactor and T.U.B.B.Y system from the wonderful Cookiemunster. the question is; I want to try and add KH, (or reef builder), via your mehtod. Soooooo...have you any suggestions, how this would interface with and automatic top up system? i.e KH and Kalwasser should be added on alternate days at the very least..right? If i set up a drip system like yours, will it be ok, even of at some times Kalkwasser is being added att he same time? Standing by....anyone?
  5. I think you should go to the parasite forum, and check Achilles Tang thread re Flatworms. Some kind soul has posted a web link, there, showing a picture of the flatworms. might help you to identify what you got....

    Crab trap

cooollll, i need to give this a try for my tank intruder....
  7. Can anyone help me with Jesperlam's "essence bottle method"? I have not heard of this. What i imagine is ; 1. i stick some food in a bottle. 2. leave in the tank, 3. Lie in wait until the crab goes in? That simple? It means staying up all night tho'....
  8. Best advice is hang around this forum for a while! Read the DIY section, and check out; http://saltaquarium.about.com I think a bit of reading will help a lot, before you start...
  9. >jesperlam. Yep, after sleeping easy thinking i had a cute brittle star, i found something different this morning. While feeding, a small claw came out from a crack in the rock, and grabbed for a piece of brine. SO...it is indeed a crab. I got a better look at it. I cannot belive it has been there all this time, and i did not see it. Catching him should be funny. (i would now like to apologise for my abysmal typing last night. That is what happens after a jug of mhargarita at Cafe Iguana)
  10. Thx bum, i think you id' the alien. Safe enough to leave for now then! Appreciate the help folks....
  11. if i catch it, i'll post a pic. any tips for catching it?
  12. Hi Bum, thx for the pic. Well, it was quite like that, BUT, it was the colour of live rock. Mottled, and very difficult to spot, except when it moved. . The legs were more soft and slimey. Like a worm. I wish i could find it again. How did you catch it ? >barracuda. Maybe a crab. I am trying to search the net, but cannot find anything like it. Bum's picture is the closest.
  13. Hi, I came home the other night and went to feed my wet pets. Something caught my eye. Nestling in the corner of a piece of rock, i saw something move. I got a glass rod, and prodded it. It took off. It was IDENTICAL in colour to the live rock, and looked a bit like a spider. It had THICK furry looking legs. I prodded it again, and it took off fast. This time it seemed to unfurl, and HELL it moved fast. It moved so fast i could not see it so well. This time it looked longer than a spider, but dman, those legs were quite long, and quite hairy. Anyone any idea what this coulds be? (AT, sorry to hear about the flatworms, and the tradegy that followed) Any help appreciated.
  14. i dont know of any. They all seem like sharks to me. The Rainbow shop at Ang Mo Kio classifying as a "Great White Shark". Actually, to be fair; Bio Ocean, 16 Cactus Road, seem like a nice bunch. They took time to help me with a lot of my beginners' questions.
