After some consideration, i've decided on the Deltec MC500 skimmer. Hopefully i will not be disappointed. Hehe.. If i have problems setting up the skimmer, can some one come and set for me? Will buy tea la.. Will post my tank setup progress along the way, possible everything in december as i'm traveling alot this month. Anyone know whether Reef Depot do custom tanks?

No sump, chiller is at the bottom of my desk with my tank on the top. Height of desk 30inches. just measured to confirm height.

The temp shown on the internal thermostate and the actual tank temp is almost the same. Cant tell to the exact temp as the thermostate has no decimal placement. I set the desired temp to 26, so the kick in should be 28. In actual fact it kicks in abt 27.6-27-8 from the in tank thermometer. So i conclude its pretty close. When i set my flow rate to 1200L/H (using eheim 1250, at 1.2m height), the chill time is 8 mins and the interval is 12min. I also dont know why soo fast, as i'm using a 2ft x 1ft x 1ft tank with 48W T5. Currently toggling abt 3/4 open, the chill time is 5-6mins while the interval has extended to abt 20-30mins. Air con off, tank lights on. Some margin of error is expected..

The CL-280 i have is very quiet, and by controlling the pump rate you can control the kick in-out interval. I notice if i slow my flow rate, i can increase the length of time before it kick in and maintain or even decrease my chiller on time.

No one i know is running a nano (30G or less) and using a skimmer. Only friend that has a marine tank is running a via aqua skimmer in his 2Ft IOS, wet skimming green tea.

Further more, my experience with weipro and red sea prizm kinda un-nerved me. i'm worried if i spend 400-600 on a skimmer and i cant get it to skim properly/well, either thru tuning or the product, money is wasted.

Spoken to the ppl at AM, apparently Tunze is changing the pump design for their DOC skimmers. Estimated arrival late Oct. or Nov. The more i do research on skimmers, the more confussed i am.. So many models, difference in opinions and off course the $$$ Vs performance.

Tune 9005 or maybe the 9010.. Only thing abt tunze, Reef depot always no stock..

The MCE300/600 are hang on external skimmers, dont think it can hang on the sump with the cabinet. Hmmm... I wonder MC500, will fit sitting inside the sump and ease of removal for cleaning.. Will these skimmers be over-rated for my tank, 100L total volume. Worried cant sustain foaming as over sized.. I plan to keep, 4 small fish and some LPS only.

I find HOB skimmers without the tall reaction chambers unable to skim well. Just my opinion. Pretty limited in selection, due to size of sump. Was thinking grotech or tunze, or even a reef octopus. Anyone has experience with Grotech HEA080/HEA110s or reef octopus DNW 110??

Arent the Remora and the MCE300 Hang ons? Currently using a prizm, looking for something of a different design.

After much thought and consideration, i'm in the process of getting a custom tank and cabinet with sump built. Due to limited space in my room and i love mini/nano reef tanks, the display tank is abt 20inch (L) 12" (W) 18" (H), with a slightly smaller lengthed sump abt 18". I'm kena in a bundle deciding which is a good skimmer to go into that tiny sump. Tunze has the smallest foot print, but i was wondering what else be able to fit in there. I can reduce the size of the sump to put in a external skimmer. No HOBs .All help is very much apreciated. Thank you...

1x eden mini pump for sale - $10 brand new in box with wrapper still intact. Made it Italy, 5W, 150-300l/h. Similar to tunze's mini pump, abit bigger. FOC 1yr old pump of same model.
