  1. just to share my current reef tank.... 6ft length x 3ft width x 20" height..... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/547/20121208111636.jpg/'> http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/689/reeftank080313.png/'>
  2. No dissatisfaction or problem, as I have mentioned it doesn't work for my reef. I have a 225g reef tank and dosing ABC as per instructions, my sps has shown no changes that I may conclude was brought about by dosing the products. I should say that colouration and especially polyp extensions were more prominent when I dose FM.
  3. Tried this. For me its a waste of money. Switched back to fauna marine. But thats just my experience - what does not work for me might work others.
  4. there was a time when reefers think of continuity of lifeline of sps than money.... danano, scarab, jimng, robe, hammanbmw, weileong and a few of us oldies would usually gather, share frags of good gems to make sure the line doesnt break; in the event the gem dies on one reefer, there is still available frags to share and continue... gone are those days, now reefers will grab the gems in shipment, call it rare and sell it for profit.....
  5. currently reserved.... for those who sms/pm me, will get back to you if deal don't push through... thanks for the interest

  7. well if that would be the case it is good news.... i for one am waiting for the time that LED will be ready for SPS -- to the best of my knowledge it has not but it will, just like T5 did about a decade ago... I am not anti-LED but on my non-biased knowledge, I haven't seen a SPS reef mature from frag to full colonies JUST under LED (and by mature I meant non-bleaching, deeply coloured and no burnt tips) -- perhaps you have any living testaments? All I see are LED-tanks with newly introduced healthy SPS but what comes after that.....
  8. 250w mh would be a better option, 400w for optimum performance... LED is out of the question, so far the spectrum is not there yet so cant compare with mh...
  9. you won't go wrong with artica or teco chiller.... if budget is a constraint, look around at pasar malam section for second owned ones. there are other cheaper ones like hailea or resun but you have to bear with the noise levels and in most cases, thermostats go bonkers..
  10. this happens to my ATB skimmer when water level is too high. try to raise your skimmer higher and see.
  11. this is only suitable for free diving i guess... for scuba, where you will need to do safety stops, this is not advisable... also, seems like this will only work when there is current.
  12. what skimmer are you using? that'll answer your question
  13. ahh.... then you just need filter sock...
  14. Here's the website -- http://maggiemuffler.com/ I have been using durso since i started reefing but for my last setup tried this. It is definitely silent, takes less space and easy installation and maintenance. You may view it at work in my tank if you wish
  15. my maggie mufflers is 50mm, should be around there but best if you can try and see if it fits first
  16. joey, for your tank I would get 2 x eheim 1262's
  17. what is the size of your pipes? i got a couple of maggie mufflers that might help.
  18. hardly actually and if it does usually less than an hour... this battery backup is more likely to serve you in the event that there is a power trip in your home.
  19. here you go..... extracted from a thread in bostonreefers...... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/210/diydiagram.jpg/'> and the parts..... 12vdc/18amp sealed lead acid battery from Royal Battery, Malden Werker 12vdc/1000ma charger with indicator from Batteries Plus Radio Shack #270-1238 5x20mm fuse holder Radio Shack #270-1050 5x20mm 1.5amp fuse (4 pack) Radio Shack #274-1571 1.3mm, size H DC power plug all these parts you can get from Sim Lim Tower
  20. perhaps one of the more obvious reason why your sps didn't made it -- aefw can hardly be seen with naked eyes. you need a mature and stable tank .
  21. position your wavemakers/pump output in such a way that it doesn't disturb your sand yet it brings enough circulation in the tank. providing filter socks helps alot and would recommend you put one. your flow rate against size of tank is too low; I am running almost 9000l/h on my 225g tank and I find it still not enough. lastly, read about vodka dosing -- with proper application it can make your water crystal clear.
  22. I used ca reactor for 7 yrs in this hobby then switched to dosing pump, sold it and switched back to ca reactor. I find that ca reactor is more effective for my sps reef tank as it does not only pumps in 3-part solution (kh, ca, mg) but also minerals that the reef needs. Ca reactor needs initial "tuning" but once you got it running, all you need is topping up of C02 which in my case is about twice a year. It is easier for me to control and measure parameters that I dose in my tank as well. There is no such thing as maintenance free in this hobby -- dosing pump needs to be maintained as well. Making sure that the peristaltic heads is working properly; there are cases that it gets clogged and stops dosing and/or goes haywire and keeps dosing non-stop. Additionally you have to top-up your 3-part solutions from time to time as well and make sure that the tips of your dosing hoses doesn't crystalize and clog the system. What made me turn back to ca reactor is the fact that I just does once and I can measure its parameters; it is hard to determine and control how much to pump in your tank using 3-part dosing pump.
