  2. The APEX aquarium controller

Aquarium Monitoring and Control is now a must-have! The most successful aquariums are those where the owner has the most understanding of what is going in their little world-in-a-glass-box. However, the real key to enjoying this hobby is to do that without making it a full time job! Owning the Apex aquarium controller is the best way to get you back to focusing on the things you love like fish and coral, and less about temperature issues, pH levels, light timers, dosing tanks, vacation plans, etc. And, if you desire, you can then take it to the next level with: Remote monitoring and control of your tank, iPhone/iPad/Android apps, advanced LED dimming, wireless VorTech pump control, Auto Top-off, calcium reactor control, ozone control, auto dosing of elements, auto-feeding your fish, and much more! Got Tank Insurance? In addition to all the incredibly cool things an Apex does, first and foremost it protects your tank from all sorts of very common catastrophes like overheating due to faulty tank heaters or HVAC issues, fires from cheap plastic powerstrips, leakages and overflows, out of range parameters, etc. And, once issues are detected, the Apex takes corrective action to reduce the likelihood of serious damage and then notifies you so you can take it from there. The Apex has saved aquarium owners hundreds of thousands of dollars in livestock, equipment, flooring, etc. Leaving home for 2 hours or 2 weeks will no longer involve the anxiety of wondering what you will come home to. This reason alone is enough to justify purchasing an Apex. ‘But it seems expensive’ The Apex costs less than you probably think. You will really see its value when you recognize what a Swiss Army knife the Apex is for your tank – and the peace of mind it provides. The Apex is roughly the cost of a skimmer or a light fixture but does so much more. And, when you factor in the other things you will not need to buy (power strips, light timers, ph controller, electronic heater control, etc.) the incremental cost is nominal. ‘OK, but isn’t it hard to set up?’ With the quick-start guide, you will be up and running controlling the basic functions of your tank like the lights, heater and pumps in a matter of minutes. Then, as you want to expand to other features like remote access, email alerts, feed modes, etc., there is a comprehensive and easy to read manual to guide you. Or, the online user forum has hundreds of other users ready to lend you a helping hand. Not enough? Well our amazing technical support staff is always ready to lead you to a solution in record time. Our flagship aquarium controller Our Apex System is the best-value aquarium controller on the market today. Dollar for dollar you will not find a higher-quality controller that gives you more features, is easier to use, or has a larger and more active user base than the Apex. If you haven’t done so already, please read our Why Apex? page to get a high level view of why the Apex is so important to your aquarium. The Apex System comes complete with: Apex Base Unit Energy Bar 8 (or Energy Bar 6 if Intl.) Apex Display Module Long-life Temperature Probe Standard pH Probe Mr. Saltwater Tank talks Apex controller: *We have limited no. of qty. Please do contact us before you come down to our showroom to avoid disappointment.

  7. New tank mixed with old tank water

Is it possible to set up a 10 gallon saltwater tank and fill about a quarter of it with my current saltwater tank's water? My current tank is running stable about 5 months already, keeping a zoa colony, a blue leg hermit and a clownfish under 2 normal filters, no protein skimmers no water changes Can i put some of that water in a new tank and add newly mixed water, and start keeping corals in it? am i asking for trouble in some sense? Please help. The reason why I'm gonna start the 10 gal is for a BTA (it'll have a protein skimmer for it) And i wanna put it in when the tank water is 6 months Which, is the main question. if i mix 5 month water and newly mixed water does it still count as 5 month water?
  8. Can someone pls help me identify these purple stuff on my rocks? might it be coralline algae? cuz it started popping up a week or 2 after i bought a zoa colony with coralline algae on its rock.

  14. 4 x 2 x 1.5 Tank

I think I started a tank thread here some time ago but couldn't find it. Maybe I did not start it at all. I am usually shy but would like to share some of my reefing experience with all. I want to disclaim that what I state is just personal opinion. It may not be factual as I am fairly new to the hobby relatively and sharing could always help others and myself learn along the way. Let me start by talking about my tank and cabinet. It is made by ah heng. It is very nice tank overall. Workmanship for the glass is good but silicone work can be improved. CRA and N30 tanks seem to be very detailed in silicone work. Something for you to check it out. Cabinet wise, ah heng allows me to pick any laminate that I find from the local supplier. Sump design and tank design are well built with help and advice of my reef buddies. Ah heng is quite a nice guy and accomodating. What is best is his pricing and patience. However, recently I made a frag tank but it is not nicely done. It is quite rough with poor silicone work. Anyway, I did not pay a lot and my storage cabinet got modified to be a frag cabinet. Nothing much to say. My light is from AquaMarin. Best price in town and nice lady May. We always get some promotion here and there to buy the light and light tubes from the store. Wavemaker is gyre from DE aquatic. Got it from Aquarama with big discount. This is best gadget invented recently I think. It is so elegent and effective. My CR is Schuran jetstream bought online from overseas shop via my reef buddy. Very reasonable price for such built. I used to dose 2 parts and test CA and KH. Now CR is much more convenient as I only need to test KH. Good for lazy people like me. I bought a CO2 controller online from Taobao weipro and a anz solenoid. It is pretty cheap online. I am using a timer to control the CR operating hours to maintain the balance. My skimmer is also from AquaMarin. SKimz Monster series. Again unbeatable price and good quality. Previously I was using Deltec. It is a bit more expensive but also very good performing skimmer. ATO tunze is from Irwarna. I mixed some Kalk in the topup water as advised. I am running zeovit system with lots of media bacteria king, siporax, bacteria house etc. Colour took a long time to pick up since I started my tank in May15. SSC was having no green for 5 months and now finally showing a bit of green sign. Majority of SPS are pale. After intensive spamming of mysis and pellets, colours finally come back a bit.
