I'm guessing the algae growth is due to your chaeto lighting in the sump. I use an opaque piece of plastic in my sump to block the light.
Tank : 2 feet cube with over & underflow into sump
Skimmer : Bubble Magus NAC5A
Return Pump : Aquabee 3000 out-sump
Wavemaker : 1 x Hydor Koralia 3
Lighting : Maxspect G1 110W on alternate photo period with PL light for chaeto in refugium
Water Top-up : 2 liter bottle manually fill & pour weekly

Some of the latest model of the Deltec skimmer come with the option of a manual or self cleaning head to enable you to clean the skimmer neck regularly. Accordingly to them, the fat and protein deposit on the neck will affect the efficiency for the foam to climb up to the cup, thus it is advise to clean the neck regularly to maintain optimum efficiency.
