Should I invest in LED or not ??

Fighting the urge to upgrade to Cree LED's fixture ( sorry can't name brand , but definately using Cree LED's )

I've read many forums and had seen many success and some epic failure .

It's the same story when guys move from MH to PL to T8 than to T5, there were lots of critic but end of the day success with T5

I'm happy with my 2x MH 250 watts ( growth and colouration ) , but cannot tahan the heat from fixture and lack of T5 blue ( currently using Reeflux 14k )

Anyone seen success they want to share ?

Gowth rates , and colouration

I heard those that got bleach was due to the intensity of LED's but this brand I'm thinking of has dimmer for both white and blue .

Reason why I'm planning this move is both bulbs is now 1+ years old and thinking of adding blue T5 ( 2 tubes ) will cost me around $4oo bucks, so thought I might as well transfer them to these LED's ( not forgetting huge savings in electrical bills )

Any Guru out there please comments, I'm all ears .

Thanks in advance for your advice and inputs .

LED is good, I wouldn't say it is better than MH. It has its pros & cons..

I notice, birdnest, grow best in LED followed by acros, LPS. Millis seem to grow vey slowly.

Been using for more than 2 years. Had to DIY my LED since there is no LED fixtures during that time.

Save lots of money on bills after switching from 2x250W MH + 6x39W T5 to LEDs (121 x 3Watts LED). Tank looks brighter, less heat emmitted to the water, chiller doesn't have to work too hard. I think it should pay back my invesment based on the rising trend of the electricity tariffs.

decided to contiue using back my MH . After changing my aged MH, tank looks brighter and my SPS is colouring up and continued growith seen .

Maybe next year I'll decide again, after another year of development

For infor : I used LED in the past ( 2 years back ) 230 watts version, and after 6 months of usage bleached all my SPS and SPS growth was slow . That's why I was hesitant in change . Like I say, maybe next year

You can put your led higher for your tank...shd be able to cover...maybe 5-10% blindspot

It'll will be perfect if replaced with TIR lens to compensate the par loss of hanging higher to get wider area coverage...hahaha!

My current set up in addition to my 250w MH plus 2xT5 coral blue . Corals coloring up nicely especially all me blue and purple SPS .

Now back side itchy again . Thinking of changing by MH to all white Cree led plus my t5 .

I was thinking since MH is 12k white , will there be any difference in CRI ( light spectrum ) between my MH and Cree white only led fixture ? Since both are daylight

Also not wanting to risk browning out my SPS or worse wipe them out
