Hi all,

I have been running my reef tank for about a year now. All was going well when I suddenly got this algae problem. As I was slightly busy at work it soon got out of hand. I have since did multiple water changes over 2 weeks to bring down the level of nitrates and phosphates. I have also just changed my T5 light tubes (running about 8 hours a day). At the moment, I have 2 turbo snails in the tank. They don't seem to be eating this algae. Can I know what algae this is (is it red hair algae?)? Any other critters or fish that I can add to help eat this algae? Will a seahare help?

Appreciate any advice. Thanks guys!

Calcium hydroxide causes phosphate to precipate out of solution as calcium phosphate making it biologically unavailable for algae. This alga will either wither or glow less vigorous.

Ahhh I see.. Thanks for your help! Will try it out after I get some..
