SRC Member james72 Posted July 6, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted July 6, 2014 Was driving half way and something trigger my thoughts to save the reef,Below is my idea. Maybe it has already been done by someone before. Every last Sunday of the month, between 9am-11am reefers gather at a strategic location with a healthy frag and a participation fees of $10, we can alternate between months for zoas or sps. These two species are more common for cultivation. The location will have a frag tank for every reefers to place their frag. A simple breakfast with coffee and tea will be served (paid from the participating fees). At exactly 11am sharp, the organiser will start the balloting process. The reefer with the lowest number will get to choose a frag from the frag tank first to bring home, this will goes on until the last number is called. Main Objective is to get to know one another to share experiences, resources and ideas.....etc Second objective is to promote cultivation and propagation of corals so as to save the reef. Would like to hear your views on this..... SRC Member titustitus Posted July 16, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted July 16, 2014 why isn't anyone supporting this! i think this is quite an interesting idea and can get the people on here together for some fun! the only thing i scared is there may be unhappiness about who bring what type of frag over etc. at first i thought bring and donate to the reef by gluing it there hahaha. Nevertheless still interesting and i hope to see this or something similar really happening!

SRC Member Bunster Posted August 11, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted August 11, 2014 That's a great idea James.... why's it hidden here in this part of the forum? But some of the newer reefers like me probably won't have any frags to bring. I guess they can make it up by buying the food and drinks. Would be great to meet more people in the reefing community. I've met some very nice reefers while going ard buying frags from them.
SRC Member TanWeiSongBeck Posted August 11, 2014 SRC Member Share Posted August 11, 2014 Good idea but i have a question. It is like doing xmas gift exchange there is always a min. price to the gifts. How you going to define this for the frags to exchange? SRC Supporter Harlequinmania Posted August 22, 2014 SRC Supporter Share Posted August 22, 2014 Finding the location and organizing the space including the setup of the holding tank would be a big issue. We tried organizing the frag swap before, but unfortunately we dont see the respond.
