transporting fish

I believe that in lfs, pure oxygen is pumped into the bags with fish to ensure an adequate supply of oxygen.

Are there other ways that hobbyists can transport fish without having that oxygen pump? I sometimes see anglers with a styrofoam box and a pump to hold live saltwater bait fish. Is this a viable method or will it result in high casualties?

For longer trips where fish needs to be in a bag or for shipment, there are ' Kordon breather bags'. http://www.kordon.com/kordon/products/aquarium-pond-accessories-2/breathing-bags#suppliers!

Some folks use this with great success.

From what I read, Carbon dioxide exits the bags at 4 times the rate oxygen enters the bags, thereby constantly purging the water of toxic carbon dioxide. And no air gap is required.

I've tried using them before. The plastic is pretty elastic so it appears to "heal". Small scratches seem to be not much of an issue but obvious punctures to the bag would render it unusable already.
