I tried keeping an abalone, sea urchin n some turbo snails in my tank. But some how they died. I tried again with turbo snails n another urchin n it died as well..

I've a marron clownfish, non aggressive velvet damsel n a brown sailfin tank.

I dripped acclimatised the invertebrates but 3hrs into the process n they r half motionless. N wen i place them in the main tank, they die..

Should i dose calcium? Or any other elements?

Help

Also i would want to noe, if zoas are hard to keep? Do tey need calcium dozing?

I don test for ammonia or nitritaes ( i noe I'll b condem for tis) But i test weekly for nitrates, n its either below 25ppm or between 25-50 ppm ( defn below 50). I started with dead rocks n I've activated carbon in my tank to remove any toxins ( does it clear copper if thr is? ) Nvr tested for copper though. During my cycling there was minute hair algae but tats all.. And my euro reef skimmer rs 80 so far hasnt skim anythin (a month plus) . I conculded that there isn't much for it skim thought. Can senior reefers guide or advices mi? Thanks

Good effort in drip acclimate your inverts. It's strange they all did not survive.

You might have a copper medicated item in the tank.

Is your tank fully cycled? Are your fishes showing any signs of stress?

If your tank is cycled, a 5-10% weekly water change should be enough.

Maybe more info on water parameters might help pinpoint the problem.

My tank is fully cycled and up for 3 months already.my fishes are active n i dn see any signs of stress. And i do a weekly 30 percent wc... Doesnt activated carbon remove copper? So shld i test for copper? And anyhow suggest y my skimmer is skimming anything

You should be skimming something with fishes feeding. Try playing around with the water levels n skim wet.

On another tot, try getting ur inverts from another source if ur previous attempts are all from same lfs.

Ps: u are doing lots rite but not getting the results, feels strange. Hang in there

My salinity is always kept at 1.026 bro.. My tank is reasonably stocked and yet till tdy i haven seen my skimmer skim anything.. Should i just get rid of tis old skimmer n get a new one? And i am wondering how my fishes are surviving when the skimmer isn't skimming the organics out of the water.

So basically i used fresh activated carbon ( 1 whole mesh bag ) to try absorb whatever toxin it maybe in my tank. I got a hermit crab and tried it out in my QT tank ( dripped water from the main to the QT , at a extremely slow rate ).. And surprisingly the hermit is active and eating well. Its been 2 days .

So its either my tank is safe for invertebrates or i have a super hermit crab

waiting it out.

Bro based on what i have read activated carbon should do the trick if all ur parameters are right. Also as suggested you could try different sources of lfs and keep tabs from there. Newbie here but been reading alot.

Best regards and Happy Reefing!
