Wild caught fish as pets

Wonder if any bros are anglers that bring home their catch to keep as pets? Moi has a whole tank of them, consisting of snappers, grunters, target fish, mullets and a sergeant major damsel

Lol I cant catch fish for a living. Anyway my friend dad catches freshwater stingray regularly and most of them are sold. He keeps a couple as pet

Those stingrays are quite prolific in certain parts of our reservoirs as I believe they are breeding quite well .. Just not too sure how long they survive though as many are gut hooked

They should not be gut hook if the angler used circle hooks..

True on circle hooks but sadly believe a number of anglers are still using traditional hooks to fish them

Thanks ... I actually released some mullets that were pretty small, those are like one gulp for a kbl haha

Good catch! If the big stingray was a mama would have given birth then would have a juvenile for a pet lol

It may surprise you ( I was ) that the mullet chased and ate the small longkang fish I dropped in to feed the snappers and friends!

That is a good idea bro .. Just a bit difficult to catch the juveniles thanks to their super small mouth

Any place to recommend getting them? I have size 1 hooks haha Planning to convert my 4ft tank into SW so will have space coming up soon as it's pretty fun watching them hunt shrimps and fish

Labrador park, plenty of small fishes (but mostly wrasse).. might want to avoid using a sinker, just use a float, small drop shot and a hook.
