Can I start keeping SPS with my nitrates at around 5ppn?

Recommended Posts

I have a 1 ft cube, finally managed to get the nitrates down, if its stable over the next couple of weeks, was thinking of trying with a pink birdnest. Since my tank is so small, was thinking of just keeping bn. Are montis easy to keep as well? Do share some pictures on some awesome bn pieces and where I can get my hands on them. Thanks in adv!

  • 4 weeks later...

Agreed 5ppm is good enough for keeping simpler sps such as the likes of Birdnest, Montipora caps and digitatas. I try not to worry too much about no3 and po4 these days (Haven't measured for pass few months). Controlled feeding is important though, the tank ( i.e. cleaning glass more than usual) and corals it self will give u indications when stuff starts to go out of norm.

Don't be afraid to try out, good husbandry is the key to success. Gd luck
