SRC Member Davian Pepper Posted March 3, 2015 SRC Member Share Posted March 3, 2015 Thinking of doing a LED for my pico tank. Most of the commercial type are quite ugly with ugly clips. Idea is to mount LED strip on a thin plate of aluminum and thats all. Hoping to get some simple LED strip from simlim. What kind of LED to get? The higher walts the better? Mixing blue and pink and white LED, what specific color to get for the white, i know there is cool, warm, etc Any advise bros?

shaohao85
Maybe u can look into full spectrum par38 .. White .. blue .. green .. uv .. pink/red I doubt LED strips are powerful enough as most come in 1w per bulb .. and u can't have a mix of colors in 1 strip. I almost bought a par but way to big, the par with stand is bigger than my 10L tank. I thinking of having 4strip approx 40led for my 10L. Enough? Spencer Lim
Go online, get a heatsink, controller and the correct bulbs and you are good to go. remember to check polarity during soldering.
