Nice pics. Can show FTS? How do you manage to keep sps in a 10 gal tank when water parameter swing is so hard to control?

Thanks! My tank not ready for FTS yet.. Very messy, I want to clean up then I will post & share.

you are very right; it's tough to maintain parameters in a 10g. Slight fluctuation & the system feels it. A lot of effort & daily intervention & patience is needed. I once crashed my tank when I miscalculated when dosing alk, ended up 80% of my SPS died...

Anyway, alk is one of the most critical IMO. I maintain it by adding it to my ATO. I'm lucky my evaporation rate stays pretty constant so that helps maintain a constant feed of KH.

Ca is dosed daily using Seachem Complete. I don't dose Mg.

weekly WC to reduce nutrients & replace trace elements.

temperature is maintained using fans, but lately I'm thinking of switching to chiller so that I can reduce the daily frequency of ATO.

I think it better to invest in a chiller. I used to use fan but the evaporation is crazy. The salinity fluctuate so much.

What's your tank temperature?

Tank temperature in the day is about 29deg. I let sunlight hit the tank so it's abit high.

at night is about 28deg

Yeah agree... Evaporation is damn annoying, sucks up my ATO water damn quickly. Am looking for chiller for my size of tank.

Salinity would however be maintained even with high evaporation rate as long as the ATO quickly dispenses top up volume for volume lost thru evaporation?

If u have ATO than it ok. Thought u top up manually.

I think Hailea is good enough.

Thanks, yeah was checking Hailea out too, but not too sure if even their smallest model is gonna be overkill for my 10g, where it constantly kicks in as my water volume is small..

Was shortlisting the AL-30 too, seems like a good-sized chiller.

This seem OK too. But if u get the hailea must get the external temperature controller.

Thanks, speaking of which - do you know where I can get external temperature controller?

Unfortunately no.... Don't know whether cos it's new? It has only been my tank for a week. When I was acclimating it, I dipped it & got rid of aefw.

managed to find a pic I took during last wkend .. Not great PE but at least polyps not retracted & it had some nice color to it too. One thing I noticed was its tips was extending mesenterial filaments & looking white & brittle. But funny thing is it RTNed from base up! Ah... The mysteries of SPS :)

when I reached home yesterday I quickly took it out cos I'm not sure if RTN is contagious

I have both the al30 and the al60. I keep my temp at 26 degrees. My tank is 12 gallons. The al60 struggles abit but can maintain at 27 degrees minimum on hottest days. Fyi. U shld get the al60
