White Spots on Puffer

Recommended Posts

A few fishes died. Can I check something with you guys? I used to have a mandarin fish inside and it went missing for days. I removed rocks and corals but was not able to find it. It could have been hiding some where and died. Will the decomposed affect the water and causes the white spots on other fishes? Till now I am not able to find the mandarin fish

Agree with bro leong but if you want to be safe, do more frequent small water change and monitor ammonia, nitrite levels, make sure it's zero to reduce stress to fish. I think the demomposing corpse of the mandarin might be polluting the water with ammonia. A highly stressed fish cannot survive disease, even with medication.

Wah.... That's a tricky situation. I think the store guy is correct in his advice, but if you have an ammonia problem, it might kill your fish faster than the disease. Better check your parameters asap. If they're ok, maybe you can just leave it as it is.

If they are eating you can feed them anti-parasitic caviar available at Iwarna. Active ingredient is chloroquine which will act against whitespot when consumed by the fish.

Always something more important than fish.

Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately it looks like you might have to go fishless for 2 months at least, make sure all the parasites die off before you put in any new fish. Your water is probably polluted too, will have to change water to get rid of ammonia and other poisons as well as the medication, which might affect invertebrates. Best to check the water parameters too. Take care.
