My Bigger Piece of Ocean

Recommended Posts

To celebrate my 1000th post, I have decided to start a new tank thread to track my own progress and recording purposes.

So lo and behold, presenting my full height peninsula tank, commissioned on 20th January 2017.

---------------------------------------------------------

So long story short, I was moving to my new place and therefore had a full freaking year to plan for my tank, layout, tank design etc. PROS n CONS.

Pros: I have ample time to clean my rocks, look for my desire size and shape, designing my sump layout, tank layout.

Cons: i gotta wait for 1 YEAR! :(

So since i have ample time, i also took the opportunity to do a dry scape.

However as some of you might know, I have an existing 6ft tank which I have previously kept all my fish and coral. For the purpose of retaining most of them, I resort to purchase 2 sets of equipment for my 2 tank, my existing 6ft, and the new 5ft. The move isn't simple, it is mind boggling to decide who goes first and how to move them. If anyone is interested i will elaborate further in the thread.

I have completely utilise the space in my cabinet to place my oversize skimmers and quarantine/refugium tank (Duo purpose). How I have achieve it you can try to understand from my blue print below :P.

My equipment list

Pump: Jebao DC 12000 x 2

Light: ATI Sunpower Dimmable 80w x 8 --> Replaced with Hydra 52

Skimmer: Skimz SK251

Calcium Reactor: Skimz CM122, Milwaukee PH Controller, Intense Solenoid

Reactor: (1) Rowaphos , (2) AIO pellet

Bacteria: Pro BIO S, Bio S, Seachem Prime, Seachem Stability

I'm using 3 now. Will be collecting one more. Initially wanted 3 but center bracing was blocking the light.

Already 1000 posting? Haha .. the setting up is always the fun part.

Why switch from t5 to led ?

Haha. Yes yes 1000+ alr. No where near urs

I still feel led > t5, reason

1) i don like the heat
2) i don like the look of t5, the color looks very flat
3) still prefer vivid color

Anyway this is just my opinion and to each its own, i just prefer led while some might prefer t5.
