How to remove oil from aquarium water surface

Help! My tank has a seemingly "oily" surface. i have a protein skimmer but it doesnt suck the surface, so is there a simple solutionvto this?

simply use a siphon to suck out the water surface and replace with same amount of saltwater. only works if its is really oil (not other factors)

You can use a piece of newspaper, lay on the surface of water.

Instead of a standalone surface skimmer, you might also want to consider a surface skimmer which can be attached to the inlet of your filter.
