Generally any brand of clear silicon WITHOUT funky additives like mold inhibitor are suitable for our purpose. If worried about unknown brands, GE & Dow Corning are popular ones available locally. Can get from neighborhood hardware shops.

For connecting male/female pipes, using white teflon (plumbers tape) tape is sufficient - this is needed as water can seep through the threads. No need for glue/adhesive. Teflon tape can get from neighborhood hardware shops.

For pipes, you can get from most neighbourhood hardware shops. Or if you want it cheaper & with most selection, Hai Cheong Plastic (@ Kallang). Madpetz should also carry some more commonly used ones for our tanks.

For me, important joint which mean any water leaks might mean disastrous I would use glue .

Not so important joint that might need changing will use tape.
Hope it helps
