SRC Member soggycookies Posted August 19, 2018 SRC Member Share Posted August 19, 2018 Ìs it illegal to get it? If you pluck a growing one out of the substrate it could be depending on where you are(in a park under NParks for e.g.) but plenty of the pinnules(seed pods) float in and onto many of our beaches. I doubt those are illegal to collect Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

blahblahuserna
looks like it, I think you'd have better luck at kranji beach where they are bigger thoughSent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
blahblahuserna
there is also a handful of trees at Changi coastal walk and quite a few areas of unprotected mangrove swamp in pulau ubin behind the lotus pond Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
blahblahuserna
also I doubt that you can just stick a mangrove pod into your tank and grow it. When I was younger I went to this sorta camp at sungei buloh and over there they started their pods off in soil for a couple years first Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Some years ago, I pull out 2 saplings from around the beach at the Changi village vicinity. Have not been there since then. Not sure the small mangrove swap is still there. Illegal or not, I don't know! Sapling is a little easier to maintain in your sump. Do not grow fast too . Gave mine away 2 years ago. Good luck!
