Red Sea Salt versus Red Sea Coral Pro Salt

So...I’m out of salt and in my short reefing history always used Red Sea Salt. Before I go out an buy my next batch I thought I should ask what the seasoned refeers thought would be the best way to go.

Standard or Coral Pro?

In my tank I have fish, LPS and SPS, tank has been established for 6 months.

Thanks for any feedback.

The difference between the two is higher calcium, alkalinity and magnesium level for the coral so

For your case, if you maintain higher calcium/alk levels. Coral pro is the way.

If you do not dose any cal/alk supplement and rely on regular water change, coral pro is the way.

If your cal/alk demand is relatively low or you already dose and keep the levels at NSW levels, then the original red sea salt works is the way.

For me i use coral pro because i keep my cal/alk levels above NSW levels.

Since you are keeping a mixed reef then you should just go for the normal blue bucket....coral pro is more for lps tank where dkh is kept higher at the 11-12 range. When choosing salt just find one that have parameters close to that of what you keep for your tank to avoid large swings during a water change.
