Found my alpha male roseafascia dead behind my sump inside my cabinet. Guess it jumped out last night after lights out as I still was feeding him at 10pm yesterday.

Been with me for over 2 years and was a purchase from digiman. Tho now more commonly found at lfs here, it was still a pride of mine to have this fish as this was rarely found when I was crazy into fairy wrasses back in 2008.

RIP.

Been neglecting my tank due to other priorities recently.

Sps colours have faded and quite some overgrown colonies resulting in shading (and thus affecting corals below) and reduced flow throughout the reef tank.

Spent today trimming and removing some ordinary corals so that flow and light can be optimal again. Not to mention several hours cleaning and scrubbing my tank of coraline and algae.

At the end of it all, couldn’t resist taking a top down picture of my shallow reef.

This hobby is full of ups and downs. Lost so many prized possessions in recent months but still it occasionally gives me a warm fuzzy feeling when I stop to look at my tank.

Decided to do an update since I realised this forum tank thread got active because of covid and an ongoing lucky draw of sorts.

My tank now is void of torch corals as I sold them all after getting sick of them stinging and killing many of my prized corals. My tank was too packed and as I travel often I come back to shifted corals (probably the work of my abalone and clownfish) and usually some badly stung and dead corals. I therefore decided to sell away my entire remaining collection of torches in early March I think.

A daytime shot from last month after the torches were sold. Pardon the milky water as I took this picture right after adding purple up.

The tank will look very different if I could get rid of all corals on the bottom to review a clean white sand bed. It looks more calming with an exposed sand bed.
