Price comparison

Hi all,

Is it possible to create something like price chart for all members to check where to get the cheapest product from? it is very usefull especially for certain product like salt, kalk, buffer..... where most of us would need to buy from time to time.

eg, cheapest Coralife salt (tub)- xyz shop located at Yishun- $60/tub...

However, certain things like lifestock should not be included caused the price of lifestock are rated by its size, colour, shape, and other factor...

Any comment? ;);)

Good suggestion for consumer but it wont be healthy for retailers...

i remember in the earlier version of SRC, there is a thread which list out some of the items prices (such as addictive, pumps, fish prices etc) for others to compare. Not sure if anyone remember it.

Example, Common Clown $1/- etc might be useful

Bring me some jap stuff when u come back ~

Drygood is still possible to list out,

But live stock are kinda hard example:

YT could come from different region thus pricing wont be the same.

Japanese goods??? pornographic materials u mean???? u dirty old man!!! :P

back to the topic...... i think likewise with woonming. It will be good for consumers, but bad for retailers...... unless they r open to prices....... which i doubt so....... and only for dry stuffs.

juz me 2 cents. :P

I think like it or not, with more and more LFS, price war is already begining...for example, i can now find Weipro 2011 selling for S$24 - cheaper then what some of the reefer is selling 2nd hand..... :nuke:

by having pricing information readily at hand, retailer are no longer kept in the dark about what their competitors are doing or kept guessing the fair market price for products. They would for example, recongise why some of their items can't seems to sell, I have seen LFS selling items way above their competitor simply because they have no idea the going rate, all they know is price = cost+margin -- for all you know, their suppliers might be charging them higher rates then other shops....

Retailer must learn to bring out their strenght and use these pricing information to their advantage for example, if they know that the cheapest shop offering item A is S$X but it is in Tuas then they might want to sell the item at S$X+3 bacause their location is CBD and their clientelle and S$3 is too little for their clientelle to travel. He might also want to carry perishables only and leave high ticket items such as MH to the niche player.....because reefers like us will alway hunt around and publish price info, he will always have the most updated and is better able to react to competition....

I really hope our sponsers will see the value of pricing information to their business and support the idea - the way i see it, a win-win formula for everyone (except the non-creative retailers.... )

how about some comment from the mod?

personally, i dun think it will have huge impoact on the retailers. Simply because members will still post question to get pricing info from the others...

by havig this section, things could be more organised and less posting on the question on the price of the equipment.....

as AlfaRomeo said, we could refer to hardwarezone for its price listing. we can even add in another section in the price list for existing users to comment and rate the product!

hi all

A LIVE price index would be the holy grail for consumerism.

COngratulations to those who favored this because you are now

part of the Walmart family where price is not the key determinant

but the only. If you are in the design industry, you know what I am talking

about.

T'would be good for consumers!

However believe that a forum setting is the wrong engine...too confusing...what u need is a price checker type engine, which unfortunately only takes prices off the net. To get up to date price comparisons from brick and mortar businesses, it amounts to a full time job (mystery shoppers, etc), and if the prices are not updated on time, can the LFSs make u accountable?

Just MHO
