Jameshong
How many capsules do I need to use for a 4 footer tank? Do u need to s/w off the skimmer when u dose? My advice is try 1 capsule first and monitor if not effective then add 1 more. Remove active carbon and off the skimmer for 2~3hrs after dosing ! Quote Knowing is not enough; we must apply. SRC Member alcatraz01 Posted August 23, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted August 23, 2011 it would be advisable to keep water in good condition - do a partial water change, maintain pH, dHK value, and occasionally add trace element. Aldo maintain water temperature below 28 degree C. I know the above is basic but it would help.

n3xt
Hi… Just to share what I did when my tank got problem with red slime few weeks back. After doing the following, the red slime is virtually gone. 1. Switch to DI water for top up and water change. Think this is the single most important factor in preventing red slime. 2. Use a phosphate remover (I use seachem phosguard as it is cheap but do check the precaution on using aluminum oxide based remover). 3. Increase the pH slightly by dosing kalk. 4. Switch to manual feeding to prevent over feeding. 5. Have also tried carbon dosing but stopped after 2 days. Think I overdosed and cause ich on my blue tang. SRC Member finind Posted November 21, 2011 SRC Member Share Posted November 21, 2011 suspected red slime in the sump compartment where the chaeto is maybe not enough water movement or light on for too long currently using a small pump to create water flow and weekly cleaning and bathing for chaeto chaeto growing but seems like there is still sufficient nutrient or wat for the red slime jialat feeding is a only once a day with a few pellets for 3 small fishes and few drops of liquid food for softies. already have seachem phosguard and rowaphos and phosphate is 0. n3xt
Hi bro, You listed 5 don't work for me but only amox does....LOL! Hi bro, Amox is definitely a faster and more effective method. However, if the low nutrient way does work for you, it can be quite enjoyable seeing this nasty stuff dying before you as the day goes by. Sound sadistic huh... lol...
