  1. Ah beng have 1-2 each shipment.. Kept once too cryptic to be seen or to be seen feeding but I heard stories of them still being alive when the owner decommed the tank..
  2. You also another oddball keeper.. I think we will hit off very well. Haha.. Anyway not advisable due to the filefishes..
  3. No lar.. cant sex them, let alone breed them.. lol.. just like them. .
  4. Went from 3 to 5 to 7 to 10 but prove tank dun have enough hiding space and due to neglecting of tank, slowly dwindled back to 1 within a few months.. But all are feeding actively when I had them.. and all are in tbe open when all lights are out, but bad thing I lost some of them due to the light as it is not dimmable kind so the light come on 1 or 2 will get shocked and wonder blurry knocking into corals, rocks and wavemaker.. I got from iwarna and CF, a species tank or deepwater biotope is best for them.. that is why I am setting one up soon.. maybe around 10 again next time round.
  5. There is 2 actually, could be female hutomoi as the one at the bottom of the bottle exhibit the white spots below the dorsal fins that hutomoi have when stressed..
  6. Like I said they took around 1 week to start feeding actively and if it is out in daylight something is wrong with the fish.. they should be in the cave or back of rockscape in daylight.. Feed when the light is off after 1-2 hours or when they starts to venture out after lights off.. They dun even venture out in the open even when my blue is at 5%.. only when all lights is off including ambient lighting.. And as they congregate together in the wild,a small group would get them feeding quite readily..
  7. Yup, there are both good and not so good lfs around.. So it up to consumer to decide.. I think he is not trying to say that you got from iwarna..
  8. Having a lower temp will slow down the fishes metabolism rate, color of the fishes will be more vibrant and they are more active, lower temp will also prevent the outbreak of various diseases and parasite as compared to high temp.. Most fowlr without chiller, you will find the color of the fishes much duller and sluggish compared to those with chiller in a cooler temp..
  9. Something to take home, lfs are running a business, so always take what they say with a pinch of salt.. They will say good things if they wanna sell you their things.. Not many lfs will tell you the truth.. So it is best left to us to research and determine if we can keep it.. But since you got it, why not try to keep it since it is not impossible to keep it alive. Reefcentral have a long thread on it.. Have not been keeping track but I am sure they have a lot of first hand experience on orange spotted filefish rather than website by aquarist who have not kept them before..
  10. Relatively easy to feed for my case but I think due to collection and handling issue, they dun come in very good conditions.. They took mysis within a week, I suspect there might be aggressive issue in a tank with limited hiding space as they congregate in hundreds in deepwater and white light is a big no for them even with caves for them as they practically dun have day and night in the deep..
  11. It can kept but lotsa time is needed for it to be trained to frozen and pellets.. But definitely need to be left to the experts.. And please read up on fishes before any impulse buy.
  12. Plectrypops lima is a nice fish for reef or fish only.. Cute fish with a personality..
  13. They take quite bit of hoaxing to get on mysis and pellets.. I have kept a few pair before, beginning is smeared my food mix and sliverside on a piece of dead acro.. Started eating them in a few days.. all took otohime pellets at the end, I feel pellet is a hit or miss, I have individual even thou others are feeding on pellets but it just refuse to eat.. I also have 1-2 that took pellet straight away after starving.. My take is medium size chances are higher, the bigger ones normally are very finicky and smalle ones loses mass too fast to last them thru the training phrase. And try to get more and seperate them as aggression sets in when they start to pair.. They dun take man made pairing very well..
  14. I would like to thank Jane for the support that she have gladly given to the MASS frag sale although she cant be present at the event. A big thanks on behalf of MASS..
