  1. U can try Marine Life Hobbielist at Hong Leong Garden.... I bought mine there... have been with me for 3months liao.... but remember to get some shelves for it to change "house"....
  2. Hi Flubberina13, Tried soaking the pellets with a bit of my tank water and also added a bit of cyclop-eeze for about 30minutes.... the pellets became soft and easily sucked in by the polys.... waited for about 20 minutes, they did not spit them out.... thanks.... i guessed your method worked....
  3. ok, thanks flubberina13... i quite like the idea of feeding it with the pellet, less waste to introduce into the tank.... maybe i will try it later to see whether they spit them out again... very hardworking feeding your pets indeed....
  4. tried the pellets on my sun coral last night... the individual poly sucked in the pellet quite readily.... but u need to observe it carefully, because after 5 to 10 minutes or so, all the polys will spit the pellets out.... quite amazing.... flubberina13, did your sun coral spit out the pellets after a while? I fed mine with cyclop-eeze and mysis shrimps and it ate it quite well. Maybe i should try the pellets again.... But, next time when u feed ur coral, please help to verify whether they will spit them out after 5 minutes? thanks.
  5. 25 dollars for a PT is not expensive.... normally, they are about 30 to 35 dollars for a one and half inch PT.... If it is a YT, then it is expensive. how big is your PT? need to acclimate it properly....
  6. wow, nice sun coral.... saw this website on how they feed the sun-coral.... http://reefrancher.com/diy/lunarlander/
  7. I think it's a matter of luck whether you get one that eats fish food other than the "things" on the skins of fish. Based on my experience, cleaner shrimp, is quite effective in "cleaning" the fish initially, however, after sometimes, it gets a bit lazy and stops working on the fish unless the fish is very near them and remains stationary. Doctor fish, however, will follow the fish wherever it goes and cleans the stuff off the fish. They are quite persistent in doing it. They are quite clever to hide during the night and appeared only during feeding time. If you can get one that feed on fish food, it should have no problem surviving for a very long time.... i couldn't imagine what would happen to my tangs without them....
  8. based on my experience, you need to create a cave or hole for your regal tang to hide when you first introduce it.... also need to properly acclimatise your tang which could take more than an hour.... do it slowly.... take note that your tang must not be smaller than the other occupants in your tank.... of course, choosing a healthy specimen initially is very important... when i first introduced my tang, it also swam on the top and then it quickly found a cave to hide (to protect itself from the other tangs and to adjust to the environment within the protection form the cave).... the next day, it will come out to feed and you can feed it with flakes soaked with garlic juice.... it worked for me though.... my advice is that at any LFS, observe the fish for a while before deciding whether it is healthy to buy...
  9. ninth attempt..... took me about 30 minutes....
  10. got one from ML 3 months ago... i saw that it was eating food that henry fed it and bought it.... still surviving and snatching food from my tangs and ricordea (mysis shrimps placed on the ric).... well, i'm quite lucky to get one that feed on the things on the skins of my tangs and anything that i throw in for the feed.... Now, my cleaner shrimp has retired and stopped cleaning my tangs....
  11. me JK5.... this year 4th year liao.... tried to siam KINS but still kena KINS...
  12. two weeks seemed a bit long.... but then if it is not sick, then should be ok... give it some time to adjust.... btw, do you have other fish around? do it come out when the lights are off?
  13. IMO, it depends.... sometimes, if you are lucky, they don't fight... but for mine, they fight initially but now they are living happily together with the occasion of chasing each other out of their caves.... attached is a picture of my YT and PT....
  14. IMO, could be dead when it did not appear for a couple of days.... my doctor fish will go and hide when the lights are off and will be around when it is feeding time.... during feeding it will also try to clean the parasites on the tang and clowns.... until now, i'm still cannot find its hiding place.... it's quite interesting if i can find out where it is hiding.... maybe videocam the tank just before and after lights off...
  15. Hi bwilly, before i bought the PT, the shopowner already told me that 30 bucks is ok... so big or small, the price is the same... i guessed they had too many PTs around, can you imagine if you got 200 PTs to sell and what happens if half of them go to heaven... got to sell fast, right? going to monitor the PT for a couple of days before i transfered my precious YT over... dun want to risk the YT getting infected... my wife and i still preferred YT over PT because my YT's yellow colour is very intense
  16. Hi Angry, Yap... actually the purple tang's price was at 35 bucks. But then I got a 5 bucks discount from the shop owner... i bought it at a shop besides R**f Wor*d at pasir ris farmway 2.... according to the shopkeeper, they brought in 200 PTs.... yes, u can see them everywhere in the shop.... actually was considering the flame angel... also at 35 bucks but then i felt that they are too big for my liking... On Monday, my PT was covered with ich (my wife commented that the PT was covered with snow-like things, seemed liked tiny bubbles to me).... well, i squashed a few garlic and mixed with tiny bit of my tank water in a cup.... then put in few flakes food and soaked for few minutes.... surprisingly, my two clowns dun eat them but the PT took every piece of the garlic soaked flakes.... my cleaner wrasses (doctor fish) came to do its job also and followed the PT to eat the parasite on the body... occasionally my cleaner shrimp will jump onto my PT to eat also.... Yesterday (Tuesday), when i got home, the PT has recovered from white spots.... it is beautiful.... but i can see a few white dots on the tail and fins and is hungry as a pig... keep on eating the flakes that i throw in.... vegetarian food for now... doctor fish is working very hard also... my mated pair of clowns dun seem to be bothered by the PT.... I will try to transfer my YT from my quarrantine tank into my main tank this friday... hopefully they will live in harmony, if not i may have to sell this PT away...
  17. Hi Angry, u mean ur yellow tang shielded your purple tang from others? My 1.5 inch yellow tang also tried to shield my 2 inch purple tang when i introduced the purple tang into my tank.... but then the YT started to hit the PT with its tail and tried to corner the PT into one area.... I had to catch the PT to my quarrantine tank.... later i caught my YT and then put both into my tank with the lights off... The YT was blurred initially but then hit and bite the PT again.... i was so angry and caught the YT and put it into the quarrantine tank... now i wait for a few days before i put back the YT.... can't risk my 30 bucks PT to die with YT attacking it.... i'm puzzled that a smaller YT can attack a bigger PT....
  18. at clementi 328 there.... lfs near the coffeeshop.... i saw it there.... 1 box containing 2 pcs at $5.... thus 1pc for 2.50... that's the cheapest i've found....
  19. bought one quite small yellow tang about 3 cm long from LCK 110. There are still quite a number of smaller ones there but you need to ask them. They are at the back of the shop.... range about 20 to 25 dollars....
  20. Hi Chris, The sleeper goby does eat brine shrimps, piece of prawn meat and other things.... not necessary a matured tank.... i think you are referring to the green mandarin if i'm not wrong.... have you keep a sleeper goby before?
  21. Hi, I have two false percula clowns for almost two months. Recently, I noticed that they have developed black spots on them. They are not ill or having any fin rots. Does anyone experiencing this black spots on their clownfish? I think maybe the black spots will disperse and darken the clown's colour. Not sure, will monitor whether the black spots will disappear or not. Thanks.
  22. check out the sand-sifting goby (sleeper goby) at ML. i bought one front Henry one month ago and it has been cleaning my sand eversince. but i warned you that it can get messy on your sand sometimes. clean my button/polys sometimes. was wondering whether it is cleaning or destroying them.... quite fun to watch it sifting the sand and digging holes under the liverocks with its mouth.... wonder whether it will choke itself.... very fast swimmer too. once you have it, i dun think u can catch it without overturning your landscaping....
  23. it's normal.... i have them coming out every now and then.... got to change my filter frequently.... i think they are from creatures hiding inside the crevices of the rocks....
  24. ya lor... i diy mine with 2 fans (12 volt - $3 each) and AC-DC adaptor ($9)... quite powerful and quiet.... initially my tank temperature was 29 degrees C.... now it is at 25.5 degrees C... but one drawback is that you got to top up water daily.... i think i should take out one fan.... I'm not kidding... the temperature is at 25.5 to 26 degrees C.... u can try out yourself.... no need chiller lah.... chiller very noisey I think....
  25. Hi, I'm Pinnacle. A shop-owner recommended me to use this Bio-Kombs powder plus cubes for filtration. Anyone uses this before? Thanks.
