any position will do..just make sure the aligment is right.. meaning when drilling,it get all surface..don't apply to much presure when drilling.. drilling a hole at the back of the tank and fix up a durso at the back will be better.

for me i just use tape to cover the area i want to drill.. the tape will prevent the drill bit to slip. just need interval in drilling..apply some thinner on drill bit to cool down the drill bit to prevent overheating.and cracking of glass. and for baracuda tech is good also.

did u use a chiller?? and how ur temp in tank??

mine is a smaller size bit.. and here pic for ur reference they cost from $18-$30 depend on quality some even cost more
