  5. There is a new kid on the block carrying live fish stock! And its none other than Reef Depot!!! I was pleasantly surprised to see their new fish stock list on Reef Depot Live and so I rushed down (I stay in Amk so the journey is only 10min). Many nice Caribbean fishes like black cap, Queen, one French (mid size), many royal gamma and one sick King. The price is slightly on the high side with no leeway for bargain (I tried! ). Maybe because it's the first time, the guy who served me was not too familiar with the price list- he had to check the board everytime I asked about the price. I bought a Royal Gamma (it's the only one which price can be considered 'competitive'). I think I will go back there again. But only when there are good 'rare' imports.
  6. I managed to call Derrick at his new hp no. 97979910. He's a swell guy. He spent close to an hour fixing my chiller, in the end it was diagnosed that the fan and some parts have broken down and to repair them would incur cost that is not just worth it. And he never charge me a single cent for the work. All in all, a very professional, friendly guy. Would certainly call him again for some other related work.
  7. hmmm... tried calling Derrick a couple of times over the last three days but seemed like no one pick up. Wonder if the number is correct or is he still doing servicing? Anyone got lobang for other service stuff? Please let me know. Tks
  8. Thanks chercm! Appreciated.
  9. Hi, my Pacific Cool chiller is down for a few weeks now. I am now looking for a qualified service guy. I read somewhere here in the forum that someone by the name of Derek does servicing of PC range of chillers. Would appreciate very much if Derek or someone technically qualified can pm me for a painless and quick service.
  10. Hi, I am starting a new 5ft tank (since my 3ft tank leaked last Sunday). For peace of mind, I am going with a new custom-made tank with sump and cabinet (dont want another repeat of Titanic ). I am trying to save cost by looking for 2nd hand equipment to support this tank. Only two years old products or less will be considered. 1. Chiller (preferably Arctica or non China-made) 2. Lights for a 5ft aquarium 3. Pumps 4. Wavemakers 5. Skimmer 6. Calcium Reactor (dont know if I need this as I am thinking of keeping a fish-only tank) I am short-listing now and will make purchase at the end of the year after my Xmas trip abroad. Priority consideration will be given to member who is selling the above equipment at a package price. Hopefully there is someone who is thinking of decomming and has properly maintained his tank. Do pm me. Thanks in advance.
  11. Got it only last week at LCK during their last Hawaii shipment. The chervon is doing pretty well, pecking at all corners of the tank. This is my second attempt after my sad experience with my first one which I got from Iwarna. That one just vanished without a trace after two days in the tank. Now looking for a mini size Purple tang. Wonder why no more Red Sea import??? Mopiko, you also like Chervon ah? I thought I read somewhere in this forum that Chervon looks like a 'Science experiment gone wrong' . lol. Still remember that phrase.
  12. Got three- yellow tang, Chervon and a mimic-Tang (which looks more like a lemon peel- got it at the recent Vanautu shipment).
  13. Hi, I just bought a bottle of Seachem Garlic Guard as I read that it's supposed to stimulate the fish's appetitie. I bought it with my newly acquired fish in mind as I fear they might not eat. My question is- can I soak it with all my different fish food??? Like frozen mysis shrimp, Henry's goumet, Newlife pellet? Do need some advise. Tks in advance.
  14. Just came from LCK. Lots of Royal Gammas (from small to big big size speciments), Spotted bluehead jawfsh (many), Peppermint Shrimps (many), few large Atlantic Blue Tangs, Achille Tangs (3 medium sizes), I XL black Tang, Lemon Peels (many sizes), Pottery Angels (XS to medium), Kole Tangs (extra small cute sizes to medium), YT, Flame Angels. :biggrin2:
  15. I bought a bottle of New Life from ah beng today since it comes so highly recommended. Comes in few sizes pellet. Got the big size ones.
  16. I have a lovely Royal Gamma which is doing quite well in my tank of largely peaceful cohort of angels and small tangs. I am thinking of adding a blackcap to the family. Will my RG (being quite territorial) welcome its new mate (like a long lost brother) or harass it to death (like an unwanted uncle)? Need some advise from experienced keeper. Tks in advacn.
  17. Hi, I am looking for the red skeleton of pipe organ for decorative purpose for my tank. Used to be able to find them in fish farm but now quite rarely seen. Anyone got a reasonably large piece of dead pipe organ to sell please pm me. Tks.
  18. Tks for the replies. So they do take pellets. I dont think I will quarantine such a big fish. It might give extra stress. I think I will make sure my water is up to mark. I am quite encouraged to see that almost 75% voted it 'easy to keep'.
  19. Strange, how come no one reply to this survey??? Either it's a very difficult fish to keep or it's not readily available or it's not your typical favourite Tang. I was quite sad when my recently acquired Chevron Tang disappeared without a trace after only three days in my tank. Later when I read up some info on this fish, it seems that Chevron Tang likes to feast on live rocks and is quite indifferent to your usual marine food staple. So provision of live rocks is crucial to its survival. Has anyone here got any success with this fish? I thought of buying another one when the next Hawaii shipment arrives but if it's that difficult, I might just give it a miss. It saddens me to see a fish perish so quickly.
  20. wow, tks for the quick reply. I will go and put my SPS somewhere safe now. Away from my monster octo!!!
  21. I am new to SPS. Recently I've introduced two green SPS into my aquarium and I think they are doing quite ok. Due to space, I have to place one next to a true octo. Is that advisable? Will the octo reach out and stink the SPS until it 'up lorry'? What corals should I avoid placing next to the SPS? Do need some expert advise here. Tks in advance.
  22. Where is T95? Anyway, I went quite early this morning and got what I looked for- a lovely Cheron Tang. Lucky I went early- at 7.35am. When I arrived, the boxes were already unpacked and the fish all out in the big tube. Saw many tiny Yellow Tangs, Flame Angels of various sizes, good size Bartlett Anthias and few gold flake angels.
