  3. i guess it also depends on how mature is your system and if your livestocks can find any natural food in your tank
  4. serious ah? hehe.. must try to go and take a look. perhaps the fishes will smell of perfume instead of the sea?? keke... i think not everyone enjoy the smell of the sea ba...? btw i was walking aimlessly around marina square and finally saw the shop that features ideas about incorporating tanks into modern living.... a total of abt 4 display tanks and rest fresh water tanks. some of the tanks are quite chio and fishes rather healthy...!!! some nice cleaner shrimps too.. but dun understand why in 2 of the marine tanks they have some anemones on the rock as part of their livestocks... but the anemones being so small seem very cute!!!!
  5. still considering about having a 1ft cube tank in office... who has a nano tank at his/her workplace?? hands-up?
  6. cannot agree more. saw those super small desktop decorative tanks abt 15cmx10cm rect tanks more than $70, and some as much as $180 at the FISH SHOW just now. nearly puked into the tank.
  7. considering keeping a low bio-load 1 cube tank in office.. anyone considering selling one? preferrably living near CBD area. if any, pls PM me...

  12. a long pointed nose man playing saxaphone... eh?
  13. your discription reminds of me of GHOSTBUSTERS cartoon..only that it's white and not green... well, any other observations? such as white slimy thing affecting the look of other corals or such???

  15. salinity at 1.025 isn't it a little high? have always been advised to keep it between 1.021 and 1.023. 1.025 means u got to use much more salt than truly necessary....
  16. perhaps we dream about our tanks more often than dreaming of our other half... HAHAHAH....
  17. I don't know how many reefers in SRC may share the same experience like me. Of recent, I kept dreaming about my tank and my fishes. Sometimes I dream about feeding my fish; other times i dream that my tank has crashed and I only see carcasses of my fish when I wake up in the morning as the lights of the tanks are switched on. As a result, the second I am awake I would walk to my tanks and look at every fish and coral to ensure that they look the same as the day before.... But this morning I feel it coming. Felt something bad might be happening and hence could not really sleep well. The second the lights of the aquarium came on I realize that my water is very cloudy. With much anxiety I waited all my fishes to come out from their hiding places to greet me. No fish loss. But I realize my anemone was missing.. Shucks, I thought. I sat by the tank for a full 20 min feeding and observing the tank activities. Just the second I was about the leave home, I saw a pathetic small piece of the bulb anemone sticking onto the powerhead....arrgggh. I quickly scooped it out of the water to take a look. It has a scar, as if it was torn from something. I can't see the rest of the anemone (if any) and was rushing off to work. Can't wait to return home to hunt for the rest of the anemone. Wah. Marine tanks have changed my lifestyle.
  18. fiji rocks are much more pricier than normal lr because of its make-up (of cuz not referring to cosmetics here!). its is more porous within and that provides plenty of space to house beneficial bacterias... perhaps the truly experts can give mroe details on the pros of using fiji to justify its high prices.
  19. pls understand that i dun have money to buy a chiller and am doing my best in using 6 fans.....what's more, they are DIY.
  20. the smell of the sea is nice....! that was wat attracted me to marine tanks initially.... you may differ. dettol or not? eh.... i wouldn't resort to such extremes as yet..unless...unless there is a reported case in SRC, perhaps?? *touch wood touch wood touch wood*
