  1. Very very nice SPS tank! Seems like most of your SPS are wild colonies or did they grow out from frags?
  2. Anyone tried this dip before? Claims to kill AEFW and their eggs. YES, AFEW EGGS. Here's the discussion thread on RC. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2269194 And here's the link to the product. The link in the RC thread does not work anymore. http://www.aquariumspecialty.com/reef-pest-solutions-all-out
  3. Are we allowed to help advertise for sponsors?
  4. All corals taken. Might have some loose frags of gsp etc FOC for any reefer. Tank water too cloudy too tell after removing the LR.Check back again tomorrow for any foc corals. FCFS.
  5. Time to decom my office tank, it is overgrown with soft corals all over my tank sides and equip, making it extremely unsightly. Take all for $30. Includes: 1. A nice shaped piece of LR (est 1.5kg) cover with different kinds of corals, (2 types of green star polyps, blue cloves, golden cloves) 2. A mini pump that is covered with blue cloves. The pump is not working anymore (may be clogged with dirt I'm not sure), don't want to throw it away as it looks nice covered in blue cloves. 3. Loose pieces of mushrooms, GSP, zoas, and 1-2 pieces of yuma. Collect at Jurong East St 21 only. Whatsapp me for more pics. 9 65 8 zero four 11. Thanks.
  6. Source: http://yawningbread.wordpress.com/2011/08/18/help-my-neighbour-keeps-pythons/ There’s even a huge question whether the law, inadequate as it is, is being enforced properly. Some years ago, the developer of Parc Palais in Bukit Batok decided to keep sharks in a tank next to the swimming pool. They brought in one nurse shark and two black tip sharks. The problem was that the tank they built was not much more than 2 or 3 metres in length, but the sharks grew. Black tip sharks can reach 1 to 1.5 metres while nurse sharks can be 4 metres. In any case, sharks need a lot of space to swim. So just from an animal welfare angle alone, it was crazy to keep sharks like that. This is in addition to whether the condominium should even have acquired them in the first place. Acres wrote to AVA. “But they said, ‘let’s wait for the sharks to get bigger before we consider removing them’, ” Louis recalled. Later on, they did remove the smaller black tip sharks to a fish farm, but not the bigger nurse shark. As to why they didn’t remove the bigger shark, it’s not altogether clear; though one suspects it was because AVA themselves had nowhere to shelter it, even temporarily. “So what became of the nurse shark?” I asked. “It died. It died from being crammed, because in the end it was longer than the tank and its tail was always bent.” Imagine the suffering.
  7. There's a difference between people who are dumb and stubborn. Stubborn is what you are.
  8. Haha that's how auctions should be like, everyone having fun here. $7.50!
  9. Seawater is not highly recommended as the salinity is sometimes lower than normal so it is not good enough on its own. Looking at your other threads, it seems like your water params have gone haywire. Why not just go back to basics? Stop all your dosing if you don't know what you're doing, and stop worrying about getting a certain parameter right. If you're keeping just LPS then just use a good saltmix with RO/DI or distilled water. You don't need to dose anything for LPS. Just got to keep your salinity, temp, NO3 and PO4 in check, dosing can be at a much later stage.
  10. Kh is too high. Calcium ok means how many ppm?
  11. Since it is in a low current position, I highly suspect that its shriveling due to high light, or that your water is too clean - mushrooms like high nutrient rich water conditions. Also, I just remembered that pH shock could also cause it to shrink like that. I would try shading the mushroom from the light by half first, as most of the time LEDs may be stronger than they look. It will take awhile for them to get used to the new environment so as long as they are not melting, just give it more time to adjust.
  12. My experience with mushrooms turning like that is either its too much light or flow. Or your water is stripped of nutrients. What's your no3 level?
  13. Air stone skimmers are not as efficient. For your tank size, with weekly water changes, you do not need a skimmer at all.
  14. Is your overflow noisy? Noticed that you didn't use a durso.
  15. No need any particular supplements for softies. Just regular water changes will do.
  16. I have read that turtle weed aka maiden hair requires a certain level of care to keep this algae. Would not recommend for newbies. Usually either it thrives or dies in your tank. Here is a link for more info. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1113845 Ironically, you can find turtle weed growing on our local beaches as well.
  17. Try feeding more also, it helps to get the colours back. How fast do your sps grow? Just curious, whats the fastest growing sps in your tank? (eg. birdnest, 1inch/mth)
  18. Any wavemakers? What about temp? You plan to use any fan or chiller?
  19. For your tank size,if you're using the biggest tem chiller available in the market, your chiller will be running 24/7 with temp 29'c ++ assuming ambient temp is 31'c. Get a compressor chiller instead. For the person who recommended the nano tem chiller, please don't give others bad advice.
  20. I believe james72 is not doing it purely for profit. If I remember correctly he was banned for something else. Cheers.
  21. When you first place the plug in water it will release tiny air bubbles.. do not be alarmed its totally normal. As for the sediments, did you chaft off the edges after removing from the tray? There will be some fine powdery dust just rinse it off with tap water. For me I am too lazy and just use without rinising.
  22. The 'cages' make good use for holding small fishes too.
