Hi Xiggie, Thks again 4 the quick return. My algae screen does have a plastic tubing with bubbles rising the length of it to the surface. It's attached to the side of the glass n is just 3inches away. It's bin running and cleaned since 22 Feb 2015. All I see is blue green algae like nori sheets! Will take note of what u've said n posted n do some modi. N let u know the outcome.

Screen n lights ar located in the 2nd partition of the sump, the 1st partition is the return flow from the tank above. Hope this helps. Once again, many thks.

U can get 'em at a couple of shops at Sim Lim Tower. They charge around $2.50 ea with star base for the 1w and $3.50 ea for the 3w. Use ur own discretion 'cos one shop sells 'em at $4ea, claiming they r of a 'better' grade. They also have waterproofed n non-waterproofed drivers. Get them to test the total voltage n match the correct driver b 4 u buy. Cost me a 2nd visit s I was given the wrong driver 2 power the leds.

My prob the same as yours. It's the pump but the controller works fine. Happened to my Resun 1500 also.

I thought by now, the term 'white spots' in marine tanks would refer to 'ich' parasites on fishes. Anyway, after 3 straight days of dosing at 1ml per gallon on the display tank ,cut off from the sump during treatment throughout the night till 8am the next day, the blue tang is out again and behaving normal. No venture, no gain?

Hi Brandonm, Guess I goofed again. The white spots on my blue tang. This guy's a tough one. Only two months ago, it had a real bad gash on the left side of its body, which subsequently mended on its own. The healed mark's has a much lighter coloration but otherwise life goes on as usual. Lol!

Hi Admiraltian, The sudden cleanliness may have caused white spots to resurface. It happened in the past when I siphoned my then gravel -lined tank bed. Since the removal and running an ATS, things were doing fine. Then the GHA appeared and despite hosing and brushing the rocks in the toilet, it won't go away. Now the H2O2 has done its job and I'm having a new headache. Currently, dosing 70ml per 70 galls every night n keeping my fingers crossed. H2O2 kills shrimps so why not the white spots parasites?

Hi Sherman, As a follow up, I took out some of the rock formation which I'd tied together and dabbed them with H2O2. After hosing with tapwater, I placed back in the tank. The rocks've been with me for more than 8 yrs n I repeat, never changed my water,just added phos- treated water to replace evaporation(credit to Nakazoru on how to remove PO4 ). Hence the aftermath was such a great amount of dead n dying organisms lumped together for the skimmer to clear up. Currently the scenario's like I'd just run in a new set-up n everything inside is peaceful. The skimming's still running great. .

Hi Sherman, Actually I'd mentioned that if not 4 the lights n the fact that I'd cut off the sump n the main, I'd b in deep shit! My guess's the lights helped 2 break down the H2O2, lessening its bleaching power but enough 2 knock off most of the DHA n cyano. NB. I've not done any water change n things r returning to normal.

Like I'd mentioned earlier, though this method has been around 4 quite long, I'd still be in the dark if not for Cedric n fancy posting some hogwash which made Brandomn enter the scenario. Luckily, I came to in time. Most of u guys out there must be laughing ur heads off after reading my bungling. No wonder my skimmer's still churning out those dark brown stuff n lots of foam non-stop. Yup. I'm keeping my fingers crossed n praying hard.

Hi Brandonm, What I'd written after Cedric's no big deal. If only I'd read ur articles n researched more into H2O2, it wouldn't 've been necessary 2 make a big huha out of using H2O2 to kill GHA (in my case). Guess u can share the anguish n despair I'd gone thru' trying to clear damn greenies! Anyway, it's a whole new technique, far s I'm concern 2 keep my tanks' params in the pink! Lol!

Hi Brandonm, After reading so many 'quick fixes' my latest attempts prior to reading Cedric's success were to remove phosphate via ferrous sulphate in order to reduce GHA in the tanks. They even grew on the artificial coral rocks after I'd substituted them for the real stuff (after reading SM's post on old rocks). But now, lol, I'm enjoying cleaning the gooey scum n watching the algae slowly rotting as a result of H2O2!

Hi All, To those who r equally fired up by Cedric's aftermath n mine I'd like 2 add the following variables. Firstly, I dosed my sump entirely cut off from the top tank with the lights fully on. H2O2 oxidizes very quickly in the presence of light. Secondly, my skimmer has a 28w diy venturi Dolphin 2500 l/h pump. The reason 4 mentioning the former two is maybe it reduces the strength of the H2O2 n when I reconnected the return to the top tank, the impact on the inhabitants was much reduced. Hence, although the cyano and the broypsis were effected, the water turned hazy but the inhabitants survived. Believe me, it was a close shave. I'd take the rocks out and do it in a tub, the next time. NB. Only found out more about H2O2 this morning!

Hi Cedric, Thanks 4 the quickie. Initially, I thought my tank's a goner! There was so much foam n I'd to empty the skim cup 3 times. Even threw in a diy filter bag 2 help drain out the dying debris of algae. It's been 2 days. Now the tank water is whistle clean n life's back to normal. Couldn't be happier,man! BTW I used the Yukare brand n it's 7 per cent strong in a 500ml bottle. No venture no gain. Lol! Once again, a million thks. :thumbsup:

Hi Cedric, Read ur post regarding the use of hydroden peroxide. Bought a bottle of 500ml and emptied 3 quarters of it into my sump. Mine's a 4x2x2 main tank and 4x10"x2 sump. Everything happened as mentioned by u. The cyano just disintegrated in the main and the skimmer went berserk! The fishes are okay but my mushies are all folded up. Mind giving us a snapshot of ur tank currently? Thks.

Hi fren, The pump u r seeking is pretty new locally. U can try AM or De lighting. BTW, from what I'd read. Cyano's main culprit is excess phosphate n poor lighting. A number of guys have posted success with Nualgi (RF Iwarna). The next thing u can do is make regular water changes. Happy reefing!

It needs xtra cold water n will eat prawns and squids. It jets around n hits the glass with a 'pock' 'pock' sound. But the glass won't crack.Lol!

For want of info, slayer, u r the best when it comes to letting reefers know. Without doubt, a picture speaks a thousand words. Kudos to u.

Actually I had bought one from a fellow reefer. He casually remarked that he 'heard' that this type of pump can suddenly stopped working. To be more precise, the one which I bought from the Ng couple is still alive but the 2nd hand one is now in the dustbin after running for around 3mths. Pound foolish penny wise?

It's advisable to buy one direct from the shop or better still pay a little more n go for the latest Jebao WR wireless model.
