  1. Hey guys, I had the same problem with my overflow compartment too. Water is bound to make at least some sound when it crashed down 2.5 feet into little pipes. What I did was just to put some Foam in there to stop the noise.
  2. well, I have very little live rock in the tank since there's actually load and loads of it in the sump tank. I decided to just put enough rocks in there for some of the smaller fish to hide. It's also to provide the goby type fish some hiding room. Anyway here's the tank shot. The inhabitants... There are a bunch of Chromis in there, 7 I think. 1 Clarkii Clownfish and his Anemone 2 Banggai Cardinals 1 Foxface Rabbitfish 1 Klein's Butterflyfish 1 Midnight Dwarf Angel 4 Blue Damsels ( not sure exactly what kind as their tails are not orange ) 1 Firefish Goby 1 Yellow Watchman Goby 1 Black Fin Dartfish 1 Red Diana Hogfish (I think that's what it is ) 1 Ruby Head Fairy Wrasse 1 Bristle Star 1 Cushion Star 1 Orange Star 5 Sand Sifter Stars There's a small 1 foot tank that I've propped up in my sump where I keep a whole bunch of Hermits.
  3. yup I've personally seen them at CF I got these from a friend though. I'm planning to keep a Hermit Haven.. but it's all in my sump. I guess it's gonna be quite cramped after a while... The main tank is a 4ft X 2ft X 2.5ft Fowlr.
  4. From my experience, the little scarlets don't grow any bigger than 10 cent coins... I do have spare little shells around which i'll be tossing into their tank.
  5. These guys are hard to photograph... not only are they tiny but they scurry so terribly fast. Here are a few individuals that I picked for a quick photoshoot.
  6. I took the pictures at night.. so most of them were hiding in the rocks. I'll try to take more pictures when they are feeding and moving around. They simply love to chomp down on algae wafers. It's really cool to see 3 or 4 of them clustering around one wafer. I need to get some pictures of their feeding behaviour. Look out for it soon.
  7. Hello everyone. I have a few questions regarding NSW. Where are the places I can purchase NSW? (Any reccomendations?) What are the dangers of NSW? When you buy some NSW, how do they deliver it you your home? Is it safe to just take water from our beaches? Please help thank you
  8. here's a pic i found on Flicker it's using a mushroom instead. picture taken from User > amishval
  9. Cool.. I'll probably do that once the main tank is completely filled up with water
  10. try the shop just outside Farm mart center at Choa Chu Kang... the dude there usually has assorted shells in a plastic bag.. not a bad variety. I personally just go hunting at the beach for shells.
  11. Pom Poms do best in a nano tank... i had a pair that vanished within minutes.. I did see them for a bit .. usually really late at night... dancing by the outflow. that is until my anemone died and wiped out everything.
  12. why don't you go net some mysis at a jetty?
  13. thanks for all the info guys.... it's been 2 days and they are still alive.. all are really tiny though.. the main body is smaller than 5 cent coins. Even if I do add them to the tank, they'll live in the sump. Right now, they are in a small covered beancurd container with numerous pin holes in it, submerged in my sump's water.
  14. I was out fishing last night and pulled up some reeds towards the end. They were covered in these little spiny starfishes. Currently, I have them in my sump in a small container. Are they safe to just dump in?
  15. interested as well location please. 90034527
  16. like what has already been suggested, drain just the overflow box... collect whatever excess water to pump back in.. stuff with kitchen towels and let it dry for a bit Then do some crazy siliconing if dismantling is going to be too much work. Just my newbie suggestion
  17. despite the initial cost being so high... I think the electricity costs on the long run would be most worthwhile. I must comment on the sleekness and professional quality of your DIY work. There's a possibility of marketing what you've created. Keep up the Astounding work.
  18. one of my main concerns is if it would eat all the turbo snails. yeah it's an awesome fish. Definitely a fan here.
  19. Image taken from reefhotspot.com Has anyone any experience with this fish? Are they commonly available in our local LFS? Do they try their luck with turbo snails? Even when they are well fed? Are they fast growers? If you have any comments about this fish, do drop it in here. Thanks
  20. I agree on the rust protection spray. It works for me. You can get it from most hardware stores.
  21. I always have a good supply of NSW with me just in case I need to do any immediate water changes. NSW gets my vote.
