  4. just to share.. getting rid of algae can be quite a pain.. using a manual toothbrush knocks down surrounding corals in tight places. i use an electronic toothbrush and it makes cleaning much easier. of cos getting rid of the algae in 1 place is just a temporary solution and the real concern can be other water parameters which is the root cause. but still, this is really a good tool to have.
  5. haha.. dragons difficult to keep. hopefully they wont be extinct soon. i'm new with these deepwater species and still testing out their characteristics. so far i've placed them at the bottom half of the tank and still observing. much to learn from you uncle mikey.
  6. its still a mystery... never found out what triggered the blister. yes, you're absolutely right. fiddling with dosing and mixing the salt will worsen the condition. and that will enable corals to sting easily as the skin loses the protective layer and thinned down.
  7. Bro, red stag still avail? If so, please reserve for me.
  8. Nearly lost this ssc colony due to the blister episode. Turned brown overnight and now recovering. Colour still have not as good as previously but at least it's holding strong now. Heng har..
  9. Beautiful reef uncle mike. The lokani is still my fav.
  10. I'm using this... http://m.oralb.com/products/vitality-floss-action
  11. Any electric toothbrush is naturally waterproof. Look for the rechargeable type so that theres no opening to the battery pack. choose a harder bristle. I've been brushing my rocks with the same toothbrush for 2 years. Just change the bristle when it wears out.
  12. hhaha.. quite the opposite.. the temperature went lowww,,, i usually keep 25 ~ 26 degrees and tank will only fog up during rainy and cold nights. but it kept fogging up during the day and the weather was so hot and humid the past couple of weeks i thought it was the weather. i decided to check it out when the floor started to get soaked due to the condensation (i thought there was a leak..with my luck i won't be surprised). started to lose one colony after another and couldnt figure out why so keep thinking its the blistering incident. then finally asked compressor guy to check the sensor out... turned out that the water is too cold.
  13. tank hasnt been doing well since the blister. a series of bad luck including the temperature sensor went haywire for a week. lost MANY colonies. finally things start to get stable again.. some new additions to start over. http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/lawchan77/media/IMG_3256_zps072dd6c9.jpg.html'> http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/lawchan77/media/IMG_3259_zpsa5d2f193.jpg.html'> http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/lawchan77/media/IMG_3260_zpsa7c24a67.jpg.html'> http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/lawchan77/media/IMG_3236_zpsfc067f6e.jpg.html'> http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/lawchan77/media/IMG_3257_zps167bc4e3.jpg.html'>

  17. After my experience, I've realized that it is such a common problem but so under discussed... Heard from a fellow reefer that Home Fix store sells long gloves too by the brand called Sally I think. I haven't checked it out yet but I will. And I'm now using a hand cream and soap called 'cetaphil'. It's quite effective and doesn't sting cracked skin, ultra moisturize without being oily. Check it out. According to my doc, the more you scratch the worse the damage. Abrasion, inflammation, itch and swell. It's a vicious cycle.
  18. Yes, you're right. Doc says steroids is only prescribed to me for 5 days till I see him again a week later. Long term steroid usage can cause other problems like cataracts. But my condition is chronic so have to use steroids first to control. Now my hand getting better and I've managed to avoid touching salt water so far. Although still cracked and dry at least no more pain and swelling has subsided significantly.
  19. That's exactly what happened. Tissue detaching from skeleton at an alarming rate. Mostly from millies.
  20. Cannot conclude that it's biopellet cos I've been using biopellet for almost a year now when this happened. And apart from biopellet, I've also stopped all additives and go back to basics monitoring the water parameters closely. Still suffering the consequences of this incident.. I'm seeing tissue peeling from one or two heads of my royal blue Millie and snipping it off in an attempt to save the rest.
