  1. Great. Thanks for the advises! I understand that ich will always be there. But was hoping that if i kept it fishless, it would allow me to "restart" the tank with a "ich free environment". Afterall, these parasites do need a host to reproduce. Anyway, i guess i will try out the fishless method first, and see how it goes after 2 months. At the mean time, will treat my fishes and make them fat n healthy. Hopefully all goes well, ich will be free from my DT.
  2. Hi guys, My Display tank recently got an outbreak of ich. And its quite bad. Have decided to remove all fishes and place them in a DT tank for treatment. Couple of questions: 1. If i remove all fishes from the DT for 1 month, will the DT be free from ICH? I understand the parasite needs a fish host. I have many corals, so cant risk doing Hypo or copper treatment on DT. How can i kill all the parasites in my main display tank after removing all fishes. Just leave it free of fishes for a month? 2. Any recommanded commercial products for treatment in a Quranteen tank? Copper based? Thanks!
  3. Hi guys, I recently bought a Deltec CR along with a fixed peristaltic pump and American pin point ph controller. The flow rate is fixed, co2 is at 3 bps, ph set at 6.5 – 6.76. It has been running at this setting for about 3 weeks. I am using NSW. Today, I did a check on my water chemistry. Alkalinity shot up to a horrifying 15.7dkh Alkalinity - 15.7dkh Calcium – 400 Magnesium – 1050 Ph – 8.0 I understand that my magnesium is too low, as I am not dosing any mag into the tank at the moment. Couple of questions: 1. Is the low magnesium the reason for such a high Alkalinity? 2. Is my setting for the CR all wrong, explaining everything? 3. How can i lower my alkalinity safely? or just wait for it to drop? 3. Is there any recommended method is dose magnesium? My CR doesn’t have a secondary chamber for magnesium. So how can I best dose it? I would really appreciate some advice! Thanks all!
  4. AM has Bali Shipment, Fish and coral. Was there in the evening, shipment just arrived so didn't get a chance to see much.
  5. haha, oops my mistake. Must have mis-read. Anyway, where can i purchase coral rx from?
  6. Thanks alot guys for the great advises! I guess i will be doing some form of "preventive meansures". I will try using Tropic-marine's coral cure, and maybe quaranteen it for a few days. Anyone can explain abit on coral Fx? done a search on google, didnt get much results. Thanks alot!
  7. Anyone seen Yellow Shoulder surgeon/ ORangespot surgeon? Or Queen purple Anthias? Thanks!
  8. Hi Guys, Got another newbie question, as my tank is now ready for some LPS or soft corals, should i quarantine newly purchased corals from LFS? From what i read, quarantine is good for removal of harmful pest. Mainly done for SPS corals due to red bugs. Recommanded Tropic Marine Coral Cure. Just doing a quick poll to see if u guys do qurantine your corals after purchasing from the farm. Also, just a quick question, does "ich" or other fish related problems affect the corals? Appreciate some advise from the long term reefers Thanks!
  9. Hi Guys, Anyone knows where i can purchase NO-ICH by Fishvet? I've done some research online, and have read it works well with UV sterilisers to rid of ich from the tank. Anyone has any idea?
  10. Great Infomation! I guess i'll be giving it a try by introducing the PBT and Hippo first, followed by the kole. Maybe a week apart from each? Also, i intend on getting a UV steriliser. Really mixed reviews on it, but worth the try since currently i do not have many corals yet and ich is most likely to occur during the initial start up phase according to many. Gradually, i will decrease my dependency on it. Hopefully i wont be needing it after 6 mths. Big investment but hope it reaps rewards for me. What do u guys think? AGGRESION N ITCH!!! SIGHHHHH... Really appreciate the feedback guys. Still have more to learn
  11. My understanding of quranteen is so that i can observe for any illness or ich on the tangs. Or am i wrong about this? If i introduce both to the DT, no need quranteen?
  12. Thanks for the great advise guys! Got a better understanding now. My tank has been cycling for about a month now, used NSW, completely decomposed 2 large size market prawn. Did a 50% water change. Salifert test kits read 0 ammonia and nitrite. Nitrate is within controllable range. I guess i'll be investing in a UV sterilizer as recommanded by everyone. Thinking of going for the 6x coralife uv sterilizer Hmm, another question i have. Currently, i have my powder blue tang in a quranteen tank for about 2 days only. Everything looks alright as of now. Planning to do at least a 2 week quranteen. Problem is, the tank is only 30l with an IOS. Can i quranteen the Powder blue tang and a Hippo Tang together at the same time? Will the space constrains result in aggression? Really appreciate the tips and advise! Happy reefing!
  13. Hi Guys, My 3 x 2 x 2 tank has been up and running for awhile now.Im ready to start inserting some livestock. Was curious if this combination of tangs would work out? I intend to put them in at the same time to avoid any territoral aggression. I do understand that tangs are best kept single in one tank, but has anyone had experience with keeping more than one tang? 1. Powder Blue Tang 2. Kole Tang 3. Hippo Tang (Aka. Blue Tang) Will this work out? Any comments will be appreciated!
  14. Hi guys! Anyone tried or is currently using Bubble Magus Calcium Reactors? Need some feedback on this product, is it reliable and does its job well? Its pretty affordable, and within my budget. But should i spend a little more for something better? Any recommandations will help, my tank is a 3 x 2 x 2.

  22. Thanks for the advise! I guess i am going to ditch the idea of the Deltec Sc 2060. Any comments for the bubbleking mini 200? I've seen some good reviews on it. Anyone has used it before and can comment on it?
  23. Hi guys, Im relatively new to marine, have been into freshwater for about 2 years. I would really like to venture into the reefing hobby and i hope to get some advise from the more experienced people here. My intended tank set up: 3ft x 2ft x2ft, 3 section sump tank, skimmer / return / refugium. I have done plenty of reading and research over pass 2 months. Selection of equipment is really important, so im willingly to spend more at the initial start up. Question is, how powerful can my skimmer be for a total tank+sump vol of 520L bare? I intend on getting an oversized skimmer for long term plans on keeping SPS in the future. I plan on getting a dectec SC2060. But will it be too much, to the point its actually useless and worst still, causing negative effects to the tank. or just settle for something smaller, the deltec APF 800. By the word "oversized" filter? How big is too big? Is there a limit? 1. In Sump Version - Deltec SC2060 Significantly exceeds performance of AP701/AP851 (600 lts of air - 230V) Total air produced - 1100-1200 lts/hour Power consumption - 25-28 watts Water level in sump - 180mm min 260mm max Tank Suitability 1400 lts heavy stocking 1700 lts normal stocking Air silencer Micro adjustable skimmer setting High water flow through the skimmer No feed pump required, skimmer draws water directly from the sump 2. External - APF 800 power consumption - 12 Watt airflow - 600 litre/h Suggested pump supply 700-1300 litres high stocking 800 litres normal stocking 1000 litres code - 88020 3. Any other recommandations? Have a budget of $1800 with a sump size of 30 x 23 cm. Any advise would be greatly appreciated and helpful! Thanks alot!
