try to go one level up for ur skimmer too, if possible.... never know how heavy u'll stock or feed in the future and it'll help in removing more DOCs faster since its sumpless. can try look at tunze's skimmer system where it has internal overflow and skimmer in one. sorry can't remember the product number for it.

yeaaaa try with fans. alternatives are those peltier coolers that u can research online. alot of shops actually leave them at room temperature but do monitor too...

They're skittish... but once comfy in your tank, they'll come out kpo and swim around abit, esp during feeding.

Can try at freshwater lfs. Cant rmb exact price but its around 100+ 200 for 2L tank with normal regulator when i was doing planted tank last time. Solenoid regulators will cost more. Oh ya, can try 2nd hand tanks from freshwater forums.

Alot of reasons why it may die... can call Am to check next time. i still prefer fishes in the tank and see if it response to food as compared to bagged ones where its a gamble...
