Bro, your tank getting more and more power.
-
Really nice tank u have, upz for u.
-
Has been thinking of rescaping in the weeks to come. Sick & tired of my own aquascape.
My new idea is to create one rockscape for SPS and another separate one for LPS and softies.
-
Nothing out of the ordinary actually..
1. Weekly water change.
2. Dosing of three elements
3. Water top up.
That's about it... Mostly are birdnest and montis so relatively easy to care for.
That's already very tedious to some aquarists.

haha. Thank you! Have not been buying corals for quite some time alr.. Waiting for them to grow!
So what do u do to keep them healthy?
-
Beautiful collections.
-
No problem, maybe u can read up more on setup and cycling from this forum, internet or from other reef keeping books.
-
-
Do not on the lights first. Consider yesterday as the first day of cycling. Cycling will takes at least 2-4weeks. U can throw in market prawn to speed up process and in between do some small scale water changes. U can cont'd dosing yours bacteria additives.

thanks for the input, but i find credit cards are abrasive to tank surface, filter wools often traps little grain of sand/stone during cleaning scratching the tank in long run. LFS aunite told me to use sponge instead of filter wool..
Whether u use sponge or wool, should be no problem since yours is BB. I juz find sponge absorbed more water thus harder to clean glass surface when underwater.
-
Try using a ezlink card or something similar, can be easily removed with that. Maybe just do it when u perform your water change.
If u have any old atm, credit card or any acrylic made card also can.

The pharos led comes with its own mounting kit & stand?
-
Can you guys share what you use to clean your tank glass with?
Barely a week, small diatoms patch appearing..
For me, I juz cut a small piece of filter wool to wipe the glass surface. Other than that magnet glass cleaner.
-
no i never but i am not using test kit so will not know when will po4 start leaking back into my tank. am dosing 2 ml per day which should be able to remove 0.225ppm of po4 if my calcuations are correct
Better to use if possible, else u can judge from the increase growth in nuisance algae.
btw what is CUC?
Clean up crew such as snails, seahare, urchin etc

Haha! I was just trying out with movie making. Thank you anyway. Tank is not good enough though. A movie of your display tank will be stunning!
Think ur tank good enuff compared to mine. Maybe must get some scaping tips from all the experts here.

You don't have to elevate the skimmer to achieve dryer skimmate, just control the water outflow from your skimmer via the valve will do
Eh... I dunno why but my valve already at its maximum. Any other adjustment will increase foaming & water level inside chimney and hv to maintain cup cleaning more frequent to prevent overflowing of skimmate. Dun think my skimmer pump inlet is adjustable. That's why I elevate my skimmer by putting a mesh sponge below.

put abt 4 kg of coral chips inside to improve my bio filtration bcause i find that Jireh quick start cannot cope... right now battling with hair algae...any advice on removing and preventing it? already using henry's goodbye p04 but i don't dare dose too much cause am trying out some spses
Have u try rowaphos or other brands po4 absorber? Regular WC and adding more CUC also helps.

Hi bro, i agree with Thomas that the most likely reason could be there isnt much to skim. Your fish stocking seems pretty low and feeding may be also at the lower side right ?
If you are able to make the skimming a little more dry, you will then notice the skimmate would turn darker. But whichever method you do (dry or remian wet as your current setting), as long as your coral do well, it doesnt really matter much. From my experience, skimmate usually turns darker after feeding, then eventually turn lighter color again.
Do note that the amount and size of bubble do affects the skimming result as well.
Ok, I used to have this problem using the cheap china brand skimmer, so dunno if there's anything wrong.
Lol, now still using china brand lah but review is that BM ones shd be better. Just another question, could it also be my skimmer is undersized cos bro straydum did mentioned earlier in my thread?
-
Up for u, bro!!
-
Up for u too, bro.

A bit bo liao here, juz now part of my tank was shown on tv becos the tv crew came to interview my wife. Anyone watching news on tv would be able to catch a glimpse of my tank... Ha ha.....
-
Based on the pic, it looks like the water level through the skimmer cup is too high resulting in wet skimmate. Re-adjust so that the water level is at the bottom level of the skimmer cup & you'll get a much drier skimmate.
Ya, I suspected that might be one of the problem but due to my sump space and the height (size) of my skimmer, it's a bit difficult.
Either I have to upgrade my skimmer or try to elevate it higher.

love the green scolymia and supppper sun~~~
Glad u love it. Juz a little problem supersun nowadays, some baby heads dying. Hope it dun affect the others,

Don't seem to be an issue with your skimmer. I would assume the amount of bubbles mass are still very much the same?
If it is, likely, you have not much nutrient to export already based on what i see in your stocking.
If you are afraid the skimmer is not exporting the nutrient due to some issue, you can buy a NO3 test kit to test the water.
I juz feel that the bubbles foamed at the cup seems to be a bit inconsistent. But I couldn't find any blockage from the skimmer.
I need to check the no3 level then. Need to get a accurate test kit 1st. Thanks for your advice.
