No need permit as far as I know. I've seen double-deck 6-footer b4. Just have to find place it above load-bearing beam. U will need to find out from HDB or town council where the beams are.

Hi reefers, Came back from long holiday to find my tank's kH had fallen to 5.7 (Ca is 400). But all the corals - incl Acros - are fine. Growing and no colour/tissue loss. Am wondering if kH is as important as people make it out to be. How long can u go?

Actually some salt is removed too. Over time, u will notice a layer of salt covering things like lights and the fan itself. This is also another reason why chiller is preferable.
