  3. So i know now my main issue is not the chiler but actually ventilation....the ventilation on the cabinet doors are too small and hot air cant escape. Now i need carpentry services on one of the door to install grills. Anyone knew of such service?
  4. Thats alot of ls u are keeping in that small tank. I have that same skimmer i used before, its good but personally,..for nano tank just stick to frequent water changes. might want to also consider a nano chiller for your shrimps, they can't survive in a small space in a warm environment. Unless your room is 24/7 aircon there is very high chance of stress for all the ls. i hope your nano tank success, i gave up on mine 6 months down and upgraded, less time spent on almost
  5. Is that...a mug? in your sump? lol!
  6. for nano tank, i used to religiously water change and control nitrate and phosphate using media. until i got a sump for it, using a rowaphos reactor helps alot in reducing the phosphate level to impede algae growth
  7. Ahh, thank you very much for your input. Any of you guys use this chiller before? I started to notice a pattern, it will run for 4-5 hours and cool for the rest of the day approximately 8-10 hours? then kick in again. i chill to 29 from 31 deg on my 600l tank. I have no experience with large tank size chiller before so i need to know if this is normal? the last tank i use was a 2 feet and this same chiller kick in every 2-3 hours for 15-20 mins.
  8. Oh derrick is the guy who does aicon compressor chillers right? Any idea how much he charge for checking and possible repair?
  9. Hi, I have an old teco ra680 chiller...the kick in time is longer than expected tochill down 1 deg in my 600l tank (4×3×3) .its supposed tobe a 1/2 hp . I am ofa mind tobring it down for servicing..its a first for me so i would appreciate if someone can point me to a good service provider
  10. Taking in if you are giving. can negotiate a price if u are selling. about 3ft-4ft worth. pls pm me.
  11. Hi I am wondering if there are any service available just for piping? I have te tank and cabinet and equipments just need to engage professional help to do just custom piping along with glass hole and carpentry too..
  12. zoas dont need target feed, its those non-photosynthetic that is more likely to die of starvation. Sun Corals/ Sea fans etc. The zooplankton will do most of the job of providing food for the zoas. As for the palytoxin, have a decent pair of rubber gloves nearby when handling them. The liquid it secretes when you accidentally tear them apart contains the toxin and will burn your flesh. sidenote: Advise for new reefers...never boil live rocks if given such advise for whatever reason...the fumes will contain some of that toxin and can be absorbed through inhalation. Zoas will 'melt' when they are stressed, usually in a high nutrient tank, just like any other corals, maintaining perfect parameters is paramount to a succesful tank
  13. I use a PAR 38 before, should be more than enough for IQ5, but I have a bad experience trying to maintain a very small aquarium, mostly due to the great fluctuations in salinity. Unless you are willing to keep a constant lookout for evaporation, the livestocks will suffer alot. I see a dymax skimmer on your table, if u r planning on using that, I recommend to use a quality airstone. From my personal experience with it, barely manage to skim anything at all. I resorted to constant water change, and believe it or not, nano tanks are harder to maintain than a decent 2f tank.
  14. Hah, I have seen alot of them on my LR, hitchhikers, mostly reefsafe. They pick at algae mostly.
  15. Should have slowly acclimatise first, inverts are very sensitive to temperatures and salinity.
  16. Similar experience when I started too, bought pbt during cycling stage...surprisingly he made it through the month, then he developed ich all over, my guess was he couldnt find a rock to hide in...
  17. Thanks, I know they do peck on corals, i was under the impression that they were more reef safe than some of the other angels, it has never pecked on any of my corals before, just the one breed of zoas that i recently purchased (I have other zoas in the vicinity). i was hoping if there is any other solution beisdes trading it off though...
  18. Help/advice needed. I have a juvenile coral beaty that kept pecking at fire and ice zoas, and ONLY fire and ice. The rest of the zoas he's not even interested. How do I coax him out of pecking? He eats pellets mostly and I have been feeding him daily at least once.
  19. AM has a a couple of massively huge black seahorse, otherwise you can try jirei or CF they occasionally bring in tank bred seahorses which are already trained to feed on mysis.
  20. If more people buy, please share your review here. Lack of reviews even on other websites....I am still using it, so far my 2ft mixed tank is doing fine with a constant 1.021 using brix conversion. Note that i compared with the normal see-through-pinhole refractometer and i find a drastic difference btw the two readings.
  21. Got top-up? Nano tank have drastic salinity change effects when evaporation kicks in. oxygenate the water, use air pump. Your live rock how big? need to give them space to swim. Some tips here and there, I have some experience with clownfish in nano tanks most of the time its successful but i have changed to a larger tank since, some of my friends even kept them without any water changes or turbulent flow. Fishes I usually bought from iwarna or henry. Better if you get from a reefer cuz they have better adaptability, i see alot of posts giving away common clowns. One more tip, not necessary but I'd be sure to get them in pairs, one big one small, they get aggressive at first but will normalize after awhile provided you got the same species. Reason is because, some clowns if you separate them with their tank mate, may cause further stress on one or the other. So when you buy, just get one which is already paired or if in school tank, look at the swim patterns to identify their tank mates.
  22. I borrowed it from my workplace, it costs about ~300sgd....it reads out in brix so you have to convert it yourself to sg using a brix conversion table available anywhere online.
  23. Hi anyone have used this before? I do not own it, but I have one at my workplace and been using it to test salinity of my tank. Calibrated using shop n save distilled water. My workmates say that it is more accurate than the normal telescope refractometer. So far it seems ok but i kept my salinity at 1.021 just to be safe. So far no complications and invertebrates not stressing. Looking for others opinions. Looks like this: http://w35.indonetwork.co.id/pdimage/44/1883644_dsc_0442.jpg
