  1. Another way to increase SG slowly with minimal stress to LS is through evaporation. This can be donw through your weekly water change regime. 1) If for example your weekly water change is "Y" litre of water 2) Prepare "Y" x 1.1 litre of water (10% more) 3) Siphon out "Y" litre of water and replace with Y1.1 4) Test SG at the end of the week and adjust with necessary With this, as the water evaporate the salt remains and will increase your SG slowly and "naturally" as LS are used to slight change of SG during drought seasons. 2. Hehe, cavitation is commonly used in marine engineering since propellers generate bubbles. A improperly sited pump will also create cavitation, I have recently mounted a small pump with the impeller faced down instead of horizontal and with that I get lots of micro-bubbles even though the pump in fully submerged.
  3. Unless you have a huge tank will lots of space for the dragonets to established their own territories, if not it is not advisable. I have a pair of S. moyeri and when I tried to add the ruby red, they would chase and bite the new comer till death.
  4. What you have done to an Atlantis to keep it more than 8 years is indeed a miracle plus tons of hardwork!
  5. Upz. For FOWLR reefers who wants a hassle-free and economical way to maintain kH and have luscious growth of coralines, this is the top of the line euipment to have.
  6. Upz for the good price on these quality books.
  7. In my personal experience, all high flow pumps will have a potential of air-lock if not installed properly. As mentioned by DA, the contributing factors is on the piping works. I have ran Iwaki MX70 to MD55, to Ocean Runner 6500 to Eheim 1262 to Waveline 10k to Diablo 10.5k for my return. Same set up but different pumps and all of them, needs minor twitching to get the pump running optimal. Beside air-lock another challenge is micro bubbles due to cavitation. This, I feel is also another problem that is often misdiagnosed.
  8. Guys remember to arrange for payment for your MASS T-Shirts

  9. Can not conclude la, we are just layman trying to verify using our layman way. Best is to check with FnM whom you have bought or with Reef Dept who is the agent.
  10. For those that order MASS T Shirts, please check thread for payment details.

  11. If you touch the media, do you get rusty stain on your fingers? From my experience, the Rowaphos should be wet and will stain when touch, that's why when use will Rowa filter sock, the sock will turn brown after using. Also, are you taking the photo with the Rowphos in the container? So far, the sides of my Rowaphos container is never so clean. You may want to verify with Reef Depot.
  12. Wa bro, Thank you for your generous support!
  13. Ya, that's my worry too, anyway its a risk I am willing to take. Let me know if that guy backs out.
  14. Bel, still avail? I am may like to try if it's firm on the rock cuz if not my burgess will treat it as lunch.
  15. The only way to determine when your cycle ends is to test for the ANN spikes and recessions. By estimating a time frame for cycle to complete is not advisable.
  16. This is very common in new tank, for the next stage, you will liking encounter hair algae, diatom etc. Some reefers prefer to leave them alone but for me, I prefer to brush them and let my filtration system export out. Those that advocate leaving them alone feels that brushing them may lead to spreading to other parts of the tank. I have tried different ways and find that brushing them away works better for me. It's your call.
  17. It is probably bacteria biofilm or some die-off. You can gently brush them off using a tooth brush.
  18. Better to wash and also to go through sand with a magnet, you will be surprised what you can pick up.
  19. Contact mini-reefer, he may have some.
  20. Tidy up the cable and it will be super nice liao.
  21. My evaporation rate is about 2.8-2.9l daily, this is because I have 3 wavemakers pointing towards the surface thus super high evaporation rate. If the wavemakers are not pointed to the surface, my evaporation rate can cut by 1l daily.
