  1. Bro RayL got it right. Getting the right equipment right from the start will save u a lot of trouble at the end. Some equipments may have cheaper alternatives but those will never really work the same. I think to streamline Ur decision, try and figure out what are the fishes or corals that really catch ur eyes and u really want it. This will help u estimate the size of tank u need. For a 30cm cube nano, U are basically restricted to 3-4 small fishes with a few corals at the most. If u want to keep tangs, like yellow tang or blue tang, a 45cm cube would be the minimum U need and even then u can only have 1 tang at the most with a few small fishes. This choice will then help u decide what other equipments to have. HOB filters I would say Fluval got theirs designed really well. Can even have 2 running side by side so u have 1 for filter and another as a refugium. It's not going to be cheap though at ~$60 each. For skimmers u can get the skimz for Abit more then $100. If u want something nice on the inside, get be hang-on version. That will safe U internal space. As for lights, I would suggest u keep that on hold first. Afterall u won't need lights for the first 1 month while u cycle the tank. Take this period to safe abit more and get urself some nice lights. PAR38 bulbs with ikea holders will be the minimum if u want to keep corals. Those are around $70-80 per set. Each set should be good for 30cm of tank.
  2. Love ur hang on refuge. Overall looking good! Planning to add sand or going bare bottom?
  3. For a start maybe we can have your budget that will give us something to work on. If u have space in your room, I would suggest a tank with sump setup complete with cabinet. This will make maintenance way way easier. But if has not possible, it's not impossible to have a marine tank either. The one sitting in my room is proof of this. Here's what I have at the moment: - Custom IOS tank (50L) - Tunze 9004 skimmer (it's almost silent) ~ $170 - Skimz biopellet reactor (not very necessary) - $90 - Arctica 1/10 chiller secondhand $350 (there's a cheap one going in pasar malam now) - AI SOL Blue lights secondhand $400. My equipment lost have many overkill items and there are cheaper version of lights and chillers out there. Let us have Ur budget and we can advise better

  5. Use small lumps of epoxy. For Sps get them on small frag plugs then epoxy the plugs to your Rockscape
  6. Haha Yups that's the way I was trying to tell u to hang the lights. Anyways The fans will only turn on when the lights reach a certain temperature. So dun worry too much about it.

  8. Haha! Actually hor .. Having a full spectrum LEF with individual colour channel control will also have the same effect. Lol!
  9. It all depends on how big your tank, how heavy your bioload and how often u change water.
  10. Hahaha! Bro .. I was still carefully reading for that secret recipe.
  11. Bro, can have a better picture of the rock which the Orange Rhodatics are on? Thanks!
  12. I think if u get those branded ones in packets it's quite safe to pour straight into the tank without rinsing. Cos rinsing will reduce the bacteria count in the sand. But if u getting those pack on the spot kind then it's good to rinse out all the pest.
  13. Oo.. U go where find $60. But Yups its ok. I bought mine at $68 thus the $50 selling price since it's almost new and still under warranty.
  14. Eh .. Bro, the AI lightset would come with 2 screw holds at the top. Go and get long bolts that fit that screw hole. Tighten the bolts into the holes, leaving some space at the head of the bolt. The head of the bolt can than be slotted into the slot of your aluminum frame. Dun need hanging kit.

  16. Sounds pretty safe to just transfer everything over. Like what Xiggie mentioned, I wouldn't move the sand in my current tank over. Would cause a spike in Those chemicals. Using new live sand would be a better choice
  17. Bro, u tried removing the casing and giving the parts a wash? U can also try calling Madpetz. He should have stock
  18. Do take note that Aquamedic has indicated that these reactors should not have a flow rate exceeding 1000L/hr. It may be because of the intended use, but it may also be because the reactors are not built to withstand the pressure. Either way I wouldn't risk piping anything more then 900-1000L into those reactors.
  19. Cycling is meant to build up the bio filters in the tank. Transferring Ur current water over will only serve to speed up the process since it contains bacteria. But it will not be an instant thing. Do u happen to have bio filters in your current tank? If yes, transferring the whole lot of that will help
  20. Bro I have a jebao RW-4 that was bought 2 months ago from AM. It was in the water for about a month after which I had the entire motor segment replaced due to some manufacturing fault. The new motor has only touched tap water to test if it's working. Never placed it in the tank as I upgraded to an ecotech. Selling at $50 (self collect). Still under warranty. Let me know if you are keen I'm at yck. Can whatsapp me at 81331406
  21. Bro, do call up CF first. Their stock move quite fast and they don't always have pair clowns. Usually their clowns are individually contained but pairing them shouldn't be an issue (just a little heart pain to see them fight) Also I noticed sometimes they only have True Perc clowns, sometimes they only have common clowns. So yups
  22. 50L. 7 fishes 1 star and 1 shrimp. Feeding quite abit too
