Looking great and good choice of equipments. You sump looks pretty cool and neat. What you intending to keep?
-
Wow bro, your tank size is definitely what many people can only dream of. Camping here for more updates.

Bro, it looks like diatom and if it is yes it's part of cycling. After which you will see the green aglae taking over.
-
Is this your first tank or are you actually a very experienced reefer? My first tank is a far cry from yours. The colors are so vibrant in your tank, nicely selected corals

Wow all the goodies gather together. Faster update your tank bro haha, saw you snapping up quite a lot of stuff at the bs thread. ps not stalking you but always happen to see you reserve some items.

Hello bro, I got the below creatures in my sump. Whitish and is curled up. In fact there is a lot more at the cheato, can someone help to ID? Is it harmful?
-
Very nice and colorful setting. I like the bright red clam right in the middle, can't help keep looking at it lol. Can I know what clam is that?

My 2c, fw folks emphasize more on media while sw folks focus on equip. Although sump or canister are used, rarely sw folks will put huge amount of media in sump, instead they are more into direct nutrient export like cheato refugium, skimmers and reactors. Fw folks often you can see the sump only got one return pump and as much media they are able to put and afford as they are more dependent on beneficial bacterial.

Wow clams are so beautiful, must add one at least liao

Actually can skimmer if really wanted to. Skimmer's job is only to lessen the job duties of your "bacterial" so you gotta make sure you have plenty of live rock and sand both in your DT and sump and also complement with algae scrubber. By the way 20% WC of a six footer is no fun at all, cost of salt and RODI will not be cheap. Have you looked into the feasibility of running triton? Hehe

Must be ATI Sunpower

I dun switch off my wavemaker but I suppose we should or at least tune to smaller wave during the "sleeping" time of your tank. May consider using the timer for my display tank lights. Some wavemakers do have nightmode included where it will be smaller waves if they are in a dark environment.

Would suggest a much higher percentage of WC initially if your tank is newly cycled. Say 20%, it will help to reduce the nitrate greatly. As you mentioned minimal LS, maybe can then slowly reduce the WC percentage to your intended 5%. Test kit wise, most would choose to use the brand salifert. Myself I'm using a mixture of API and saliferts. If you do 20% WC, I think most likely you also does not need to do much testing for the 3 main parameters, taking care of nitrate will do. By the way what LS are you having and what's the size of the tank?

Ya they are very cute, always like to swim together. But they never host my hammer coral -
To me like not pods, seems like some sort of fly-like insect which often comes out when we overfeed. In freshwater we call them planaria. Not 100% sure, pls dun flame me.

A little update: All my white rocks have put on a coat of brownish algae, some spots are with green algae some spots are hairy long ones. Subtraction: The juvenile Emperor anglefish passed away on Tuesday. Not sure of the reason tho as cannot see any trace of illness. No white spot etc:( Addition: One snail to test the effectiveness of eating algae. Got to say it's power!! The below picture speaks for itself, the path that snail went past is like machiam using eraser to rub off algae. Have also added one starfish One green radioactive birdnest frag and a purple digitata from bro Siowaro One bubble coral from GO - selected by my OC The pair of clownfish are doing well so far *finger crossed* Can someone help me ID what clown is this? Last but not least a Full Tank Shot Still very very empty so nothing much to see -
