  1. T95 has alot of leather corals Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  2. Try to mix it for a longer period of time and it will become less cloudy, but it will cloud your tank still, so you check your filter sock for small white particles after you have done your water change, it's safe. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  3. For me, I have tried to use salt in this condition and it still works as per normal but I used red sea brand Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. 200l/h should be enough for soft corals, 300l/h tops, anything over that is the too much Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  5. Live spirulina are hard to get and you need that to start a culture. Most farms producing them are unwilling to sell them live as they can process it and sell to healthcare stores for a pretty high price. You can only get some from small spirulina culturing plants but for a really high price and you have to pay for a pretty high amount for shipment too. Buying powdered spirulina is more cost effective overall, but it will be cheaper to buy from aquarium stores than healthcare stores. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  9. But nitrifying bacteria is everywhere and grows really fast, so trying to culture denitrifying bacteria needs specific requirements so that nitrifying bacteria do not colonise the area meant for denitrifying bacteria, but marine pure blocks have more chance cultivating nitrifying than denitrifying bacteria. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  10. Stacking marine pure would not help very much as denitrifying bacteria needs low oxygen and low flow but marine pure is too porous. A 3 to 4 inch deep rock rubble in the sump can do better that marine pure blocks. Or deep sand beds in the sump with some macro algae. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  11. A week is just for the ammonia to start to break down. The full cycle happens in a month or two with dosage of bacteria. Without adding bacteria, a normal cycle takes twice the time or more. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  12. And actually, you just have to test for nitrite. That works for me anyways. Once the nitrite has spiked and reached zero, the cycle is over. As when the nitrite reaches zero, the ammonia is also zero as well. But initially there would be no nitrite as the ammonia is till converting to nitrite. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  13. Yup, agreed. A typical bottle of bacteria takes a few weeks to lower ammonia and a month or two to finish the nitrogen cycle. The first fish you add have to be well after the cycle and continue to add 1 fish every week or every other week afterwards. Take it slow to stock your tank. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  16. The Gymnothorax Polyurandon IS in fact a true freshwater species. They are intolerant to salt. Gymnothorax Tile on the other hand is a species that does well in freshwater as a juvenile but requires full marine water in adulthood. Please do not confuse them together.
