Barracuda, There is no need for 50m for tubing....u need a min of 50 ft of tubing which goes to abt approximatly 16m... anything less than 16m the denitrator needs feeding... maybe 50m won't hurt but it takes up space. If i am not wrong U are refering to the venturi intake of the pump which is located at the outlet. Good location to hook up the tube but when ur denitrator get clogged your flow is gonna reduce day by day until u end up getting hydrgen sulphide. My design is similar to urs but i trying to improve it so it takes up less space and maybe even thinking of using a larger volume container with 4X 20m tubing ... I think i prefer to use a denitrator... all the benifits of a DSB but non of its disadvantage... no feeding required too... anyway i feel it should also be called NNR becos in the end u r using the same bacteria .... sorry for responding late....i am in the mist of my exams good luck with ur project barracuda

Nope we are not refering to that.... Powder brown is a relative of the powder blue..... looks almost alike but brown ofcos.. this is a powder brown tang... althogh the pic isn't really that good...took it from FFE.

wow...6ft... even in my 4 footer i dun think it had all the space it needed... I love to see it dashing from one corner to the other chasing fishes along its path. It would definitely look better in a 6 or 8 footer.... I lost mine to ich...tangs are so easily lost to ich especially the powder family.I really miss that guy.... he was the second longest fish i had kept other than my 4in tomato clown which i had from one and half inch. I would love to see your tank one day Morgan and to see that little beauty inside.... anybody else with experience with the Powders'

I had this surgeon fish for abt two and half yrs in my old fowlr tank (4ft)... anybody had luck with this beautiful fish... very demanding fish though... I lost it to ich last yr may. Its related to the powder blue.... i might wanna buy this again but I do not know if it does well in captivity... My heart broke when i saw this fellow dying...my favourite fish...i think it was my rise in nitrate levels.... anyway, would like to hear from ppl here abt their experience with this fish

@%/&!.... i wish I can Just jump into RC and just smack the mods with a dead tang..... I bet they dun even noe the real objective in keeping filterations. The objective of filterations are to keep water clean both chemically and mechanically. Doesn't Matter what Method u Use...as long as u keep it clean... Golf ball stomaches....yeah rite.... I agree with u AT, although i dun really noe much abt the pinched in appearance.... but golf balls are just damn big... The part which i really got pissed was... I am another of the young ones.... I am 18 at singapore poly... used to own a 4x1.5x1.5 fish only tank with angels ...tangs...clowns.... but i gave them away and now only with a 2ft tank... But i planning to buy a 5ftx2.5ftx2ft tank at the end of this year.... Its been four yrs since i have been in this hobby and hope to gainmore knowledge from the more expert ppl here....

Sure Phang.... I would try to get pictures of it....But now I am in the mist of Exams...So I will be starting after them... HKTeo, This just me experimenting with different ways of keeping nitrates down.... I have tried berlins method and the advanced berlins method and ofcourse they produce very good results but only with little livestocks... But I think the hardest part about denitrators are getting the flowrate correct. Anyway thanks for ur feedback...just wish me luck in getting it rite. I just love to DIY... It gives me a sense of satisfaction whenever i look at it.. and thanks hongqixian for the link...

Thinking of DIY a denitrator... I found from a website plans to construct a denitrator which is inexpensive and doesn't require feeding or the usage of deniballs... wad do u all think abt... and does anyone here had theirs DIY
