  1. Actually I do not remove the market prawn. Make sure it decompose and disappear for ever. That is the purpose of the prawn. To buy NSW perform water change 50% probably is what I will do now if you want to be fast. Means u spent more. Else just wait it out. Dun waste money on test kit also at this stage. A Chromis on day 30 will do the job.
  2. Day 12 is is probable 50%-75% of cycling process. To speed up cycling, you can buy sea water, use aged water from some reefers, add 2 market prawn and wait. Dosing Bac without feeding them and if without rocks/ceramic ring for them to colonize is going to be slow.
  3. Hi all; Nice to return after such long time. Just want to check and gather any reefer with good expertise on Commercial Hatchery Operations. Can PM me on a project I working on. Nakazoru
  4. That is Easy. Set a trap with a fresh fish food in it. Make sure other fish cannot get in. Shrimp is attracted to food. Take note Mantis like hunt though.
  5. Bumpz... Notice I keyed in a wrong number... SMS @98290098
  6. Its not an easy algae. Please do not mix turtleweed and hair algae, they are different. Hair algae propagates, Turtleweed very slowly if they dun wither. Turtleweed shimmer in tank nicer than hair algae, i.e smooth in the flow. Advise not to waste money.
  7. Hi all; Please see below for sales and FOC: 1. MCE600 with media box (with Reef depot sticker), faulty Aquabee pump. Replaced with a Devil Needlewheel Pump, 13W which work better than the Aquabee. Selling 150SGD with the faulty Aquabee pump. Add 40SGD to include the Devil Needlewheel Pump see pix. 2. Tunze DOC Skimmer 9021, twin tower with both faulty pump hydrofoamer. If you have a good replacement pump, a good option to DIY. Selling 100SGD with the faulty Aquabee pump. 3. Skimz CR with 2 CO2 Tank, All Selling for 200SGD Please SMS @98200098
  8. Chances is that there are some type of algae on the LR that retard coraline growth
  9. 8.6 is moderately high, nothing to be alarm. Depending what chemical are you dosing to your reef, that will affect your ph. A reading of KH, Ca will help to determine how to bring ph down. Do not spent money Ph buffer to maintain it, as it normally does not last.
  10. white anemone? Chances is that it is bleached. Anemone extend longer at night not because light but to hunt for food or being territorial is my guess. But a pix will allows fellow reefer to better guess what is the issue.
  11. Coffee filter will do the job... those nylon ones...
  12. My guess is that your tank should be fishless. Adding LR in a new tank does trigger spike in NO2 then NO3, as there may be bacteria die-off once added to new tank. No going into the details. So if no LS then okay, otherwise just be watchful of NO2... Enjoy
  13. Do not doubt the LFS for now. If he did anything wrong up till now, most if not all the corals should have shown sign of stress or dead already. Start a tank thread with pix and we will make sure nothing is amiss... As for snails and inverts... you do not need that much in the beginning since you have no LS, you might starve and kill them.
  14. Does Frozen means dead? Thus cannot be used as starter culture?
  15. Hi all... Wanted to restart my phyto culture since I terminate my culture 2 years ago because of oversea posting. If you know anywhere/anyone that sell, please let me know. Used to get at Reborn/Petmart/Arwarna. Reborn/Petmart no longer sell, Arwarna haven't check... I have previously sold excess phyto/rotifer, so hope fellow reefer will be able to help. No need a lot, about 50 -250 ml... Will be needing rotifer too once I get phyto going. If cannot get, then will be getting frozen phyto... Cheers
  16. I have done some testing with a PICAXE controller using PWM. It works quite well on test bed but not on the tank yet. The whole PICAXE controls whole tanks... It is a very tedious project to undertake as one will burnt IC/LED/Drivers and in the end burnt pocket... and almost like a full time job
  17. If it takes longer to cool, it may be because that dust has collected over time. You may open the chiller and vacuum those dust. It should improve the performance. Don't forget the intake pump, needs cleaning. You top-up gas if there is a leak. Most of the time no need. I vacuum my chiller 3 to 6 month myself, so far so good. Do a check if anything rusted/leaking etc, call Chiller man, if needed. When needed help I call Mr Tan at Kallang. Many ppl use him.
  18. If it is dead, you see skeleton or melting retracted tenticle. If you can cut... chances is that it is stressed by current, fishes or other corals. Correct those stress. Flower pot is not a very hardy coral so take care.
  19. Everyone need Visa or online visa now for USA... It is like Red China now... For short term visit, it is formality to have i.e Sufficient USD, Credit Card, Travellers Check... Simply put enough money to pay for hotel/food/transport. Also a return ticket out of USA will be good.
  20. Giesemann t5 is a good choice as it offers an option to add corals if you so decide at a later stage. Only setback is that it is of higher wattage.
  21. Very difficult to keep, needs strong lights and strong wave. Also algae eaters loves them compare to the rest, dun waste your money...
  22. Ah-go-go fish they call it. Haha If it is small, no problem, will not eat shrimp or fish. Problems starts when it grow Big. But many died because of diet when it is small... Very fussy eaters. Only for 4-5ft tank and lots of LRs... Uppzz and good luck.
  23. Just buy some Litmus Paper... Or get it from me dude. I stay Toa Payoh. I always keep some as PH probe always drift. PH 1 is not hospitable for living organism. Too acidic, and will adjust upwards because it will neutralise with the environment over time. You will see corals dying and coraline disappearing, coral skeleton melting...
