Hey guys, I have been dosing Aquaforest Components 123 to raise Ca, Alk and Mg. On the first 2 days of dose, there is clear consumption as alk drops, however, after 2 days, the alk raised from 9 to 12. I assume there is no consumption. Any ideas guys?

Im looking at dosing this too lol. Just started a thread to learn more about this. Camping here for inputs.

I believe the 1+2+3+ balling solutions are not meant to be dosed independently. You adjust the parameters you want first with your remaining Red Sea solution then dose 1+2+3+ equally to keep the ionic balance as per balling theory

    Thanks for the valuable input!

  3. I think dkh is the most important parameter to keep stabile, If you are looking for a dkh of only 8... I think you should look at the German salts like tropic Marin or fuana Marin. I use fuana Marin salt and AQ component 1+2+3+ on auto dose as using their balance balling formula I only need to measure and monitor one parameter which is dkh. Cons is that they come in heavy 15l packages and get used up fast if your tank is big.

Hi Juan, thanks for ur reply. dKH of 8+ is ok. Was thinking of the balance balling method too. I actually bought an auto doser but haven’t use. I can’t get over the 5L containers though. Was pretty shocked to learn that I need to dose 11L to bring up my MG from 1260 to 1350 when I just need 216 ML of Red Sea Foundation.

Wished it was more concentrated. That’s why I’m looking at the plus series. Will go and explore more on the AF balling method. Thanks again

  4. Hi all,

Im currently using Red Sea components. Mainly the Red sea salt (blue pail) and Foundation A B C.

Im slowly switching to Aquaforest. Currently, Im dosing Pro Bio S daily, dont dare to dose NP pro for now. Going to switch to AF Salt when my Red sea salt finishes (6 more WC i guess).

Tank is mainly SPS and some LPS. Can I ask what are the recommended parameters for AF? getting quite mixed info and its not helping when red sea parameters can be quite aggressive for mixed reef. Not chasing numbers, but more as a guide.

    Im looking at around :

    8 dKH
    430 CA
    1350 MG

If i switch to AF, which components should I be using. The KH + MG+ CA+ series, Component ABC or component 1+ 2+ 3+ (liquid). There is a online calculator for AF but they recommend a mixture of both products.

Getting really confused! All inputs are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
