  5. I put it in the display tank, but I believe it is possible for them to travel to the sump and back, just not without great stress Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  6. well, I was anxious to try it so I bought a bottle of the stuff and added it in after the lights were out, as stated by the instructions. Two days later, I see no signs of pods dying. In fact, they seem to be doing fairly well. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  7. I saw a new reef nutrition product called apex pods. Unlike tigger pods, these were being kept at room temperature and it seemed as if these were more meant for seeding the aquarium rather than as feeders. According to the label, the species of copepod contained is apocyclops panamensis. Is this product any good? and would you consider these pods to be relatively hardy in the aquarium environment? 8. so I bought this piece a few days ago and at first, everything was going well and it looked quite healthy, then a couple of days later it started to tear. At first I thought it might've been splitting so I didn't pay much attention to it. Today after getting home I found it almost completely destroyed. Two other mushrooms on the same rock are also appear damaged but mushrooms on other rocks appear to be perfectly fine. Is this something that happens with mushrooms sometimes or could there be crabs/fish/parasites that are causing this? I have some hermit crabs in my tank but I rarely see them on the mushrooms, I believe these particular mushrooms are discosomas. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  9. oh I see. Yeah I've been meaning to get an RO/Di system for a while, either way I've just installed an algae scrubber in my built in sump so hopefully that can help remove some of the nitrates and phosphates. As for the overflow that sounds like too much trouble haha, I guess if the diatoms can be removed without doing anything with it it doesn't really matter Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  10. sorry for the late reply, but my tank has one of those back compartments that houses all the filtration in the, and basically, I've been getting some diatoms on the surface on my water recently and I was hoping that I could somehow drop the water level in the back compartment so that it would be able to skin off the diatoms Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  11. Alright I see, thanks a lot Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  12. interesting, are there any requirements for the size of the holes in the screen used? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  13. well, for the longest time my overflow water level has been on the same level as the rest of the tank. Is it possible that my pump is not powerful enough? I have one of those tanks that just has a pvc panel at the back with all the filtration in it and I bought the entire thing as a set, in case that info comes in handy Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  14. recently I've been seeing a white film forming on the surface of my tank water, I can remove it manually, but it will reappear in a few days. There some fine white specs among all the film. Anyone have any clue what it could be? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  15. oh alright Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  16. ah alright I think I'll look into it, but I can start with a larger water change to temporarily stave off the issues it has caused Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  17. So as the title states, I've been dealing with high nitrate levels in my tank for some time now. No matter how many water changes I perform, it doesn't seem to go away. Could it be that the rock is leaching nitrates into my tank? If so, is there any way to remove the nitrates from the rock? Also is there any kind of filter media that you would reccommend for dealing with this? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
