  1. Oh would it be ok if I just feed lesser from now on and just do a full water change before getting live stock since it'll probably be a few weeks before any livestock will be added [emoji28]? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  2. Would a 50% water change be enough to bring down the nitrates ? Also, since I can't add any livestock at the moment, should I continue ghost feeding and doing weekly water changes ? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  3. My nitrates seem to have shot up really rapidly over less than a week! it was hovering around 2-5 then it slowly increased to about 25 after almost a week. Then it shot up to about 100[emoji33] I've only been using RODI water and ghost feeding around every alternate day. Does this mean that my cycle is close to ending or am I doing something wrong? Its been exactly a week since I started the cycle. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  4. Thank you for the explanation [emoji4] the water has indeed cleared up a lot today! Nitrates are slowly increasing by a bit. Hopefully the cycle is progressing! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  5. I realised that my water became cloudy today, could it be due to a bacteria bloom from the beneficial bacteria, and should I just leave it ? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  6. hmmm i think it might be from another source since i only started cycling today. I'll monitor the readings over these few days!
  7. no worries!! I can learn from your question too
  8. Is it normal to have nitrates this early in the cycle ? I used the salifert nitrate test kit and it shows about 5-10ppm. I'm using Aquaforest reef salt and RODI water. Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

  11. But other than ATS, is it possible to use purigen and phosban ? And should I only run these after cycling ? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  12. Hello:) newbie myself too! ATF is algae turf scrubber. I think it's used to remove excess nutrients if I'm not wrong:) maybe someone else with more experience would be able to give you a more detailed explanation! Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  13. I might get the bubble magus qq1 since its HOB and it wont take up that much space [emoji4] Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  14. Thank you for the recommendations! I was thinking of an ATS but my tank is only a 1 feet cube so I'm not sure if it can fit into the filter section I'm thinking about the dymax iq skimmer or the bubble magus qq1 but even the bm qq1 might be too big for my tank Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  15. I'm planning to get one after cycling cos I realised a refugium is quite difficult since I dont have much space. Will a simple air driven skimmer by dymax with a replacement air block be good enough ? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
  16. Wow! Thank you soggycookies for the detailed explanation! Really appreciate you taking time to explain to me. Can i also ask whether it will be better to have a refugium in one of the sections of my tank or would it be better to get a mini skimmer?
  17. Thank you for the advice I also read that there will be an "ugly phase" after the cycling is done, what does that mean ? Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app
