  1. You may like to check out this site - http://www.melevsreef.com/allmysumps.html The sumps that he has may be too big for you nano but for some background reading.
  2. I pour the livestock into another container and then drip the tank water into the container slowly (using an airhose with a valve). This allows the liverstock to acclimatise to the water condition. This usually takes about an hour. After that, I transfer the livestock only to my tank. No water from shop/farm. Have yet to setup a quarantine tank. Better to monitor livestock there for a while. My 2 cents.
  3. Is there an end date for the bid? You got a reserve price in mind (don't have to let us know) Thanks.
  4. There could be many contributing factors. Listed are some of the things you may want to check: 1. Not sure what the head pressure of the return pump is but if it is too low, it may not have the "power" to pump the water up into your tank. 2. The number of bends in the return line could also cause the pressure loss. 3. More loss through the chiller. BTW, I am not sure if a 3000l/hr pump is "powerful" enough for your tank. Well, I guess it depends on what you are keeping. Just my 2cents while waiting for coffee to brew. Have a nice day.
  5. I got a teco micro chiller for my nano. Check this out: Teco Micro
  6. I stopped using a skimmer for about 1 month for my nano too (but it is only a 1 footer). So far so good. But, I have a very low bioload and a change about 15-20% water every 2 weeks. Guess it depends on the type of tank you want. If softies, I think should be OK. SPS, need very good water quality (so I heard) and skimmer is good for this case. Let us know your decision. Good luck.
  7. PM you. SMS on collection time and place. Thanks.

  9. Interested in the chiller. PM me please on price. Thanks.
  10. Guys, Thanks for interest in my sales. Let me apologise for not providing more details. So not have a camera and not exactly sure what the model of the items are anyway. Bought it from another reefer about a week ago. Pendant 150W MH is off the sale. I broke it while trying to clean the glass. iBox is reserved and should be collected by tonight. Hope he comes and get it. iSump is 50cm (L) x 28cm (W) and 40cm (H). From what I gathered is too small for most of you. If anyone is still interested, PM me. Have to collect by Monday as I will be going away for a while. Apologise if I caused any confusion and dissatisfaction.
  11. Was thinking of upgrading so I bought a few things from a fellow reefer. Due to work, I don't think I have the time to do so. So here are some things that I bought. i-Sump (not used at all) - $125 i-Box - $25 150W MH (Arcadia) - $100 I did checks on these items and are all in working condition. I stay in Thomson. Can plan to meet at some LFS to collect this weekend. Going out-station for a week. Please PM me if interested. Got discount if take all.
  12. What is the amount of water you are trying to chill and what are your heat sources (do you have MH)?
  13. Few points from a novice. Doing some research cos I am thinking of getting a bigger tank with a sump too. 1. Read from melev website and also from reefkeeping regarding that it may not be a good idea to have the skimmer after the fuge. Better to have skimmer than fuge. Best to have seperate sources too (1 for fuge and another for skimmer). 2. Did you plan for a bubble trap after you skimmer? 3. Have a plan to isolate your fuge without having to shutdown your entire sump. Just in case, macro turns asexual (or sexual, not sure which but knows it is bad for the tank), you can bypass the fuge and still have skimmer running. Just my 2 cents. Will experts out there further some comments? Trying to determine what is a good setup too.
  14. Sorry to hear that. I change water once a week too and up to 1/3 of tank. So far so good. Keeping fingers cross after hearing your episode. I pre-mix my SW and use a powerhead to run if for at least 2 days. After that, I scoop some water out of the tank and then replace with the pre-mixed SW. I don't replace all the water in 1 go. Trying not to "shock" the LS if the parameters are way off. BTW, I only check the SG of the pre-mix SW.
  15. Not sure how much space you have for the next canister. What I did before was to run 2 canisters in series. Pros are more water volume and easier maintenance. I can by-pass one of them and clean it while the other one is still running. Tried Ehiem and Hydor. Both are good but hydor is not as costly. As for PL vs T5. Personally like T5 better as I think there are more choices of tubes (brands and temperature). Good luck.
